Hi, we used Bupa gold extras for our health insurance for the 457 visa applications. Once we got to OZ we used the Medicare system and I adjusted my health insurance accordingly to ensure I wasn't paying for things that were covered by the Medicare system.

Hi we did our 186 visa application on shore in OZ. We used Bupa for ours all the children needed an assessment of sorts just not as in depth as our health checks. Had to pay for everyone.

If we could find work near or on Bribe we would go like a shot. Its such a lovely area has a great reputation.

Hi We went through the 457 visa process Nov 2012 my OH company applied for our 457 visa and it took 5 days to come through!. The company are very experienced in completing the 457 process but we were told it would take 4-6 weeks and were shocked to see it come through so fast! Hope it processes quickly for you.

Hi It's been a week since we arrived and I am loving Brisbane. The Aussies are friendly and I seem to be finding my feet with things like go cards, super markets, medicare, bank accounts and driving our new car. Just sorting school now but we seem to be on our way to getting that done. Went into Brisbane today to find the bar for the girls night out really looking forward to it. Xx

Hi make sure the wood is treated. Untreated wood is a big no no. So if the frame is waxed or vanished should be ok.

Hi All just wanted to share that after what seems like a lifetime me and my children (7 and 4), will finally join my OH in Brisbane. The house has been rented out in the UK. Our belongings have been packed up and are currently on the open ocean heading to Oz. We have rented a lovey place in Coorparoo. We fly tomorrow from Manchester airport. 27 hrs later we will meet my husband at Brisbane airport after 5 months of being apart. I can't wait to see him again and start our Oz advantage. Looking forward to meeting the ladies at the end of July in Brisbane. Would be really great to meet up with people in around the Coorparoo area who can help me find out the do's and don'ts of the area. Oh and the best place to get tea/coffee and cake!

Untreated wood is a bigger no no. Treated seems to be ok.

Our stuff set sail on the 6th of June and is due in Brisbane port on the 12th July and will be kept for another 2 weeks at port and maybe longer. I have deceived that will work on longer so that not disappointed if things get delayed.

Hi Hi don't no know the answer to the question but I am interested in finding out the answer too. I thought it was about time served and if it was more than 12 months and conflicted more than twice. That sounds like a great idea as I am hoping to come for most of the day and evening but might not get there until the evening. Xx thanks for organising

Hi Guys some advise please. we have an wooden ikea storage box that our shipping company says we can't take along with two pairs of basic untreated wooden steps/stool that they also say we can't ship!!! I am struggling to understand why I have to leave my ikea furniture behind and than buy the same furniture in Oz!!! Has anyone had any experience of shipping untreated ikea furniture. Any help would be great

Forgive me for this if its completely wrong my husband says Apple TV is very good you can stream laptop IPad etc etc through it to the TV so that you can watch movies on the big screen rather than IPad. But you have to have laptop, IPad so not sure I this helps at all.:huh:

They should be able to answer all of your questions And help find a solution. Good luck with everything. it is a really tough world at the moment.

Thanks all for your advise my husband has found lodgings with a retired lady for $250 a week near to CBD which includes bills. All in all a good outcome fingers crossed its not for long. :cute:

Hi Guys heres the issue. My OH is currently working in Brisbane Newstead we're not sure when I will be coming out with the kids. So we don't want to rent a family home until we know when we will be coming out. But equally we don't want to rent something smaller and get tied into. 6 months contract. So do you guys know anyone or anywhere where he can rent something close to CBD with no real tie in that is inexpensive no more than 350 a week. We have tried gum tree but not having much success. Any help would be very gratefully received.
