    Hopefully, it will get a positive assessment and be back with you soon. I've been looking at copies of resume's on the internet so i've tried to alter mine a bit to fit in with what Aus employers expect. I plan to contact some of the larger companies about a month or so before i head out. Good point about the sales tax, i had changed all the figures i reference to $ but didnt think about VAT. I'm not one to usually moan about the british weather as i dont mind it, but this year it has been completely sh*te, i cant believe its nearly June and i still have to put my heating on!!!! There was a warning in the Brisbane Times the other day because its coming to winter and it may dip below 20 Degs during the day! Can't wait...........

    Steve, I didnt send any syllabus information off. I requested an exam transcript from my Uni to send with my degree certificate. For my CIMA stuff I sent off all the exam Results Statements, any certificates i had for passing each stage and my final membership certificate. They didnt request anything else. As i think I may have mention before if you send onto the London office first they will check everything and let you know if something is missing before they send it onto the Melbourne office for assessment. Good to here that you didnt struggle too much finding work when you were last there. As you say, keeping postive in the first few months is the way forward. If i initially struggle getting work, i think i'll look into some kind of volunteering role as it may help with the experience side of things. Goodluck

    Hi Steve, I was lucky as i only had two references to get. If 36 months gives you enough points then i wouldnt hold up the process waiting for more. As for us, we fly out at the beginning of Sept to Brisbane. I've been in touch with a few agencies but they say it would be difficult to secure work from over here at this point. They've advised to get in contact with them about a month before i go. Its difficult to get an idea of what the job market is like from over here but i've seen a few roles going up on the internet over the past couple of weeks so i'm hopeful i can secure something quite quickly once i land. I imagine it like anywhere once you get your foot in the door there's a few opportunities about. Hope you get your references back soon......

    SAP, You will have had to show that you have studied 8 of the 12 core areas (can't remenber if its 8 or 10 but its on the link Steve has posted), so hopefully you will have covered enough in your degree. As Steve says happy to help if i can.

    Carer was probably the wrong word to use - i was refering to Family tax benifit part B: Family Tax Benefit Part B gives extra help to single parents and families with one main income. An example of this may be where one parent stays at home to care for a child full-time or balances some paid work with caring for a child. This payment is income tested. You may be eligible for Family Tax Benefit Part B if you have care of a child for at least 35 per cent of the time who is: a dependent child under 16 years of age, or a dependent full-time secondary student up until the end of the calendar year in which they turn 18 The rate of Family Tax Benefit Part B is based on an income test. You also need to meet residency requirements. You and your partner cannot receive Family Tax Benefit Part B during a Parental Leave Pay[9] period, but it may be paid after the Paid Parental Leave period ends.     Dont forget you will also be eligable for family assitance and possible other benefits (i think your husband may be able to get a carers alowance, but not sure how that works) as your on a 175 visa - that could be worth an extra $600 or so a month, there is a calculator on the Aus government website somewhere.     I sent all this info off at the same time as they did a skills and work experience assessment at the same time - i think its easier to get it done all at once. They then send a letter confirming from what date they will except your skilled employment from - just be aware this is not to say your case officer will agree with this but they tend to go with the date from the assessor. When sent my letter from CPA to the case officer they did not come back with any questions. Hope this helps.

    Hi Steve, Not been in contact with the recruiter yet as I think we are going to head to Brisbane initially and see what the job prospects are like there. In terms of the planning, hoping to book some flights this weekend for Sept so i'll be starting to apply for jobs soon. How are your plans? I had my transcripts, certificates etc signed by my FD. They are happy for them to be signed by a qualified accountant - just need to put their registration number on the document by the signature. Also, I sent all my documents on to the CPA office in London, they will quickly review it before sending on to the Aus office and let you know if anything is missing (you also save on postage to Aus!). If you decide to do that also just give them a ring first to let them know you are sending it, i found the lady in the office very friendly and helpful.

    Hi, I had my skills (CIMA) assessed through CPA last October. Once they had done the assessment it only took 7-10 day for to it arrive in the post. I think they send the documents to the office in London first (which usually takes about a week) and then the london office send them on to you first class - thats assuming you are living in england!     I'm no migration expert but I don't think it matters how the 60 points are made up as long as you can provide evidence to support the amount you are claiming. i have no idea if accounting jobs are to be taken off the sol, as a migration agent wrussell would be in a more experienced position to comment.

    Jim Bugg, She can get her skills assessed by either CPA or ICAA. Have a look on the websites for each, CPA says it reconises ACCA as an overseas body. ICAA says it partially reconises ACCA. Based on this I think CPA would be better and its cheaper! I had my CIMA assessed through CPA - they were very helpful and it was straight forward, it took them two to three weeks to do my assessment once they recieved my documents. Goodluck

    Krish, I would ring up the CPA offices, i spoke to the london office and found them very helpful. You need to have covered 9 of the 12 core areas (detailed on the CPA website) to get your skills assessed, not sure if you need to have officially become ACMA though. In terms of experience CPA counted my experience from when i passed the strategic level of the exams, however when applying for my visa i only claimed from when i became ACMA as the dept of immi have their own rules on when you can claim experience from and i didnt want to risk mis-claiming. i believe they will take your experience from the time you submit your EOI as that is what generates your points score. once invited to apply for a visa you have to submit the evidence that supports your points claim in the EOI.     Levi, the deadline when granted your visa is usually a year from the date of your medical or police check, which ever you did first. goodluck

    Thanks. yes, we have until the end November. You usually have a year from the earliest of either your medical or Police check date. For us it was the police check. Sounds like an expensive year ahead for you! all the best for your wedding!

    I had 70 points but ive seen them inviting people for a 189 on 65 quite regularly. IELTS: The speaking is easy, just a normal conversation. Listening is straight forward but you only hear the recording once so if you get in a muddle i can cost you. Reading is not too bad but they try to make it complex and mis-lead you - just read slowly and its OK. Writing can be quite difficult in terms of the random questions they ask but having been used to assessing charts and writing essays through CIMA exams its possible to get the 8 without too much difficulty. I managed to get 8 or above in all. I found the website ielts-simon.com helpful to get a feel of the type of questions they answer and how to structure the written parts of the test. NB - Just a note you have to do the acedemic exam, i booked the general by mistake at first! If you could PM me the recruiter details that would be very much appreciated. If i can get a job lined up before i go that would probably decide on which area we move to.     I started the process sitting the IELTS on the 1st September 2012 and had my visa granted 10th Jan13. I've put a quick summary below: Ielts taken 1st Sept 12 Skills assesment rec'd 26th Oct 12 189 invite rec'd 1st October Application submitted 5th Nov 12 (acknowledged by DIAC 8th Nov) Meds 26th Nov 12 CO assigned 5th Dec 12 (requested the PCC's and Form 80) PCC's rec'd 11th Dec 12 Form 80 & PCC's sent to CO 13th Dec 12 Visa granted 10th Jan 13 Not 100% sure on where we're going yet most likely Brisbane or Adelaide around september 13 time. Where did you work in OZ as an accountant? What was the availablity of jobs like? I saw a thread on here this morning which suggested that OZ was flooded with overseas accountants!!! but not sure if that meant jobs were in short supply. Cheers

    If you looking for a independant migrant visa it'll be the 189 now. If you look on the CPA website it will tell you the core area's you need to have covered to get the relevant skills assessment and under what code. I am CIMA qualified with 5 yeras PQE and had my skills assesed under the Management Accountant code 221112. It was quite straight forward and took 3 weeks to get approved once i had sent all the information off. I now also have my 189 visa granted. Goodluck

    I would be interseted in the answer to this question too. I'm hoping to move to Brisbane in sept13 and will be looking for similar roles. From looking on the web i've seem anywhere from $60,000 to $100,000. AlloVera, can i ask if you are applying from within Australia? Also does there seem to be many jobs around in this area? I've look on recruitment websites but its difficult to guage how many jobs are actually about as some will be just advertising to get your CV on their database. Goodluck

    I had to fill in form 80 and just left this one blank as i'm applying from the UK. My CO never asked any questions once my form was submitted and i have since been granted my visa. Goodluck

    It varies depending on the workload they have at any given time. I lodged my 189 visa app on the 8th Nov12, CO assigned 5th Dec12 and visa granted 10th Jan13 Goodluck
