  1. i work offshore usually 2weeks on 2weeks off roster pipe fitter welders around 62 per hour 12 hour days
  2. hi there i came over as a spray painter 13 years ago.you will find in 99% of body shops panel beaters do all there own stripping/rebuilding. you could probably get a start as a ta<trades assistant>. where you looking to go im in perth have a few contacts if you need them .pay is pretty poor in panel shops around $1200 per week before tax livable if your on your own and house sharing.look on gumtree for house share plenty on there. good luck with it all
  3. well i arrived in uk<dewsbury> 8 days ago convinced i was ready to move back after 12 years in perth. i still think uk is best country in the world but not just at the present time. i have bought a 2 bedroom apartment in an old converted textile mill and already secured a tennant on a 12 month lease so thats all good.some things i have found bad like speed cameras every where and lack of jobs <or well paid jobs> i would have to go back offshore to make a decent wage and was trying to avoid that. im not racist but some areas of town seem to be turning in to ghettos and need a damm good clean up . i dont think the uk is as cheap as people lead me to believe i would say when you compare wages and prices its about the same cost of living as perth .i love the better choice of food in the supermarkets and my daughter says theres more choice in the clothes shops but about same price.things i love the yorkshire dales green country side talking to the milk man getting to see familly and friends again. the biggest negative for me is people are not smiling or happy so we are returning to perth middle of september and waiting until things pick up over here but will be be coming back full time in the future.
  4. 4 and 1 is the shift to make good money but it does start to get a bit tedious after a while. think once oh is established he will be able to ghange swings just remember the weeks off are not paid unless they get paid rdo. you will make friends easilly .i found once i fitted in with my crew we were always round each others houses when we were home then every 3rd week home we would all book a cheapie to bali and hire a big villa and party for a week. where are you looking at living in perth.
  5. sorry dont agree completly irrelivant. i think a better way would be to compare how long it would take to to earn to buy something comparing uk and aus salary eg pint of beer in perth say $9 this would equate to9 minutes to earn on my salary over herdoing same job on a uk salary pint of beer 2pounds 50 would takewould take 15 mins to earn due to lower wages i know its a crude way to work out costs in both countries but it gives u a good idea what costs really are
  6. started on 4 and 1 then went 3 and 1 now do even time either 3 and 3 or 2 and 2
  7. Not sure if its the right thing but something has got to be done to stem the flow .
  8. South beach for me also also point walter on the swan river lovely place to take a picnic
  9. jb hi fi deffo amazing deaals at the moment and haggle dont pay the ticket price
  10. Sorry dont see why you have to convert it to pounds when you will be earning and spending in$.Ihave done fly in fly out for 8 years now and can not imagine having to get a real job again where i have to work 4 weeks a month. If people are telling you its hard work in the mines they are pulling your leg i have done all construction/ production/ and now do maintainance and every employer i have had has looked after me brilliantly.Ipersonally think it makes you a better famialy because of the extra time you get to speend together full 2 weeks as opposed to a day and a half weekend .also having a decent wage and being able to get the nice things in life helps. i am returning to uk on saturday<still think its the best country in the world > to see if i can re-settle but am going to keep working here because i love the job
