  1. Firstly, when were you issued your Visa? You mention 2009 you applied and activated last year? The conditions of our PR were to activate within a year and move within 5 years of it being issued or we lost it. Check the date and conditions of your visa. My children came from an Academy in the UK and are enrolled in the local High School. They've settled and are doing brilliantly. We have no fees, other than the minimal contributory amounts which is about $300 per year for both. Depends on when you come and the age of your children as to what year they will be placed into. High School only goes to Year 12 not Year 13. My son skipped a year but my daughter has remained in the same school year as they didn't want to put her up as needed her to get into the swing of it before going into Year 11 for the start of HSC. 2. Congratulations. We opened accounts online in the UK with the Commonwealth Bank and our cards were waiting at the local branch when we arrived. We used Transferwise to send all our money as we looked into Banks, Money Corp etc and compared their rates and fees and Transferwise was the best. This was last year tho. 3. It cost us jusf over £700 my son was 9 so just needed a medical so his was only £75 - my daughter was 12 so had a medical and chest x-ray so hers was more expensive then my husband and I had to have xray and blood tests.
  4. Just to let you know all our medicals were fine according to the Hospital but one ended up referred - don't know why but it was and it took the MOC four months (due to backlogs) to clear it. Then we got the grant
  5. Word of Warning. The Visa will be back dated to the earliest date of either your police check or medical. Our Police Checks are dated 1st Feb and Medicals 6th Feb. One of our Medicals was referred and we got our Grant today and we only have until 1st Feb to activate it
  6. Email your CO. After we were assigned CO and asked for Medicals and Police Checks ours were still at required until this morning when visa was granted. Email and check they've been received. Good Luck
  7. We finally got our Grant today after over 4 months of waiting ! So relieved.
  8. Sorry cant help - we didn't front load we waited until CO requested them
  9. Heard nothing yet. We are going to give it this week and ring Sunday night to ask, yet again, what's going on - flipping 4 months today !!!
  10. We had our Medicals 5th Feb after case officer requested them and police check. All 4 of us were given Grade A Medicals but unfortunately one has been spot checked (referred) and we have still not got our grant 4 months on!
  11. You will be referred which takes months for clearance but you'll be cleared eventually.
  12. Our Medicals were referred on 6th Feb and we are still waiting
  13. Yes I've put our details on. Yes we all got A grade and still waiting. We spoke to case officer last week and were told the MOC was working on mid Jan but some seem to have gone thru quicker
  14. Ours were referred 6th Feb and we've not got our grant yet
  15. Were your Medicals referred tho or cleared straight away? One of ours has been referred.
  16. If you only had yours referred late April you still have a couple of months before you will hear. They are working on late Jan at the moment and mine was referred 5th Feb and we are still waiting 3.5 months later. Yes your visa is dated either the date of your medical or Police Check whichever date is the earliest. It is frustrating but you just have to sit it out. I, personally, wouldn't keep emailing them until at least three months after your Medicals.
  17. We all received Grade A Medicals on 5th Feb but mine was referred and we are still waiting for our 189 visa. We spoke to CO on Friday and were told the MOC is currently looking at late January's dates and we should get our grant in about two weeks! You've a bit to wait yet I think.
  18. I would think you would need to inform the agent and they will advise the CO they are no longer working for you and to contact you directly.
  19. We were referred 5th Feb and all got Grade A Medicals so seems ours were spot checked. We've still heard nothing - 3 months on. I emailed CO 3 days ago and have had no reply, which is unusual as she normally replies the same day. Now it's the weekend so won't here until at least Monday now
  20. Hiya, you need to apply for your visa and upload all your documents then wait for a case officer who will email asking for further documents or just ask for police checks and medicals. Once they've got that your visa will be granted. Timescales are difficult. Could be a month or it could be four months. Good luck x
  21. We waited until we were asked for them as your visa will be dated according to the earliest date on your check or medical. You need to go on acpo website for police check and go to specialised clinics for medicals. If you click on your medical link on your visa app all details are there. Meds cost our family of 4 £750 as depending in age of children depends on examinations required. Everyone over 11 needs chest X-ray and over 16 blood tests my children are 9 and 12 so neither had full meds. Police checks are needed for everyone over 18 and were £45 each I think.
  22. Oh and you just colour scan your police checks and upload it and our clinic that did the meds uploaded them online also.
