  1. Haven't they started distributing OPAL from the stations? I got mine Q1 so not sure
  2. Well.. the course does seem to meet the requirement.. but I'd advise you to google first whether there any success stories in this regard..
  3. If CPA has assessed your nominated qualification as bachelor's, claim point for bachelor's...
  4. I think you should've an older evisa link (if its not paper based).. If your visa is paper based then I think only your CO can tell you regarding the status.. I think a letter from your GP explaining the situation helps in several cases.. take this to the panel physician responsible for your tests along with any other medical history / tests you have/had done..
  5. This is to let everyone know, my medicals have been finalized. Referred 22-02-2013, Finalized 01-06-2013 Since my CO had yet to call for medicals, I am guessing they were on the lowest priority..
  6. Ann, They've said it in their booklets number of times that knowledge of the specific subject is really not required in the speaking tests. He only needed to display speaking ability. I don't know may be this could play in favour of your OH as examiners understand that as well. My subject was something you would like to do.. I opted for sky diving and went on and on about it until she said, time's up!! I was like, let me finish please! and she said it's fine :> so.. skills more than knowledge matters here.. as long as he could say he didn't know what it was and what comes to his mind when he hears about trigonometry, that's fine..
  7. Sometimes it happens.. my sister's were delayed for a week or so..
  8. Yes you can. I did the same.. unfortunately you can't do the same for canadian immigration (well you couldn't a year ago)
  9. Yeah.. Thanks.. I am not too sure myself.. I am leaning towards getting CPA or Law Degree and Tax speciality exams.. Personally, I think Law is my passion so I want to be an accountant that specializes in Law as well.
  10. ermm.. that's what they say about ACCA as well
  11. No you need to take those 6 papers in order to become a CPA. You can remain an ASA (Associate or something) for six years if you become their member after positive skills assessment (or the other assessment they do for enrolment). I am hoping to do them as well when I am in oz. I am an ACCA as well. [btw.. just a quick question did you take P7 or Advance Taxation in ACCA or not, I hear they ask you to do one of the fundamental module of Tax for ACCAs] You need to finish with CPA papers within six years of enrolment of their professional program.. that's meh (though that's a long time but I don't like deadlines on my exams)
  12. You need 9 out of 12 to qualify for positive assessment. I don't know if he's lacking 3 to meet the minimum criterion or overall he's lacking 3. In case of the former, he would need to sit for the exams either at ACCA or CPA A. My ACCA and B. Com's outcome was positive with 1 module lacking i.e. Business Finance [across all 12].
  13. I think he lacks the core modules so he's sitting for them.. you can do that as well.. I don't think you need one complete qualification.. if core modules matches across number of incomplete qualifications, then it's fine as well..
  14. Your initial documents were assessed by MOC and required further examination. Documents submitted subsequently are now with MOC for their assessment. It is as simple as that. They must've been referred between the date you sent and the date when CO confirmed they are received. I think you should hear from them soon.. very soon..
  15. Medical referral date is the date when medical results are referred to MOC. It has; Nothing to do with documentation required by CO. COs usually request medicals and if you've gone under medicals within 28 days or obtained appointment for a later date (under intimation to CO) then there's no issue. Medicals are referred to MOC for re-checking. Why they are referred, no one knows because most of the cases has been witnessed in past where Grade - A medicals have been referred to MOC for no apparent reason. Usually, Grade B medical results or people with underlying or prior condition are referred to MOC (which makes sense btw). So, the process is simple; CO Requests Meds/PCC => Applicant undergoes Meds/PCC => Panel Physicians assign grading to individual medical results (A or B) => Grade B medicals are always referred to a specialist at MOC => In case of Grade A medicals, sometimes they are referred to MOC for "God knows why" => Once a doctor at MOC looks at the medicals and determine, all is well, medicals are finalized or in rare cases, asks for a "furtherance" where applicant is requested to go under additional 'specific' tests. Meds => Referred => Finalization In recent past (since July 2012 to be specific), a lot of medicals have been referred to MOC irrespective of being Grade A or B. The timeline for their finalization has soared to over 3 months now. One more thing, just so you know there are cases where medicals are finalized without referral as well. Finally, in previous system, you could receive a notice stating medicals are received, referred or finalized in evisa portal. In skillselect, I understand that you don't get that notice. I could be wrong but your CO can tell you whether they have been referred or not.
  16. I am not sure if this is going to create any problems since they may have already updated your details in their system. Additionally, if you're that much concerned, why not get a visa label?
  17. Can people who've recently received grants (particularly those who've waited for more than couple of months) post their latest entry / validation date? is it a year from meds finalization or the actual meds.
  18. Sorry for the delayed response. Okay .. erm.. Considering that it's already May and it may take another couple of weeks to get all your documents sorted, I'd advise go for VETASSESS internal audit assessment. Now, for DIAC purpose, you'll be claiming and showing experience gained after ACCA affiliate status unless you have another degree like Bachelor's in Commerce, Applied Accounting or any other accounts major prior to it, you can submit that with VETASSESS as well (along with ACCA Affiliate, Membership certificates and CIA Certificate). In that case, you can claim qualified experience after award of that degree. The require a degree before any work that can or can't be equivalent to bachelors (could be equivalent to a diploma but it should be relevant). So; an ideal situation is that you claim points for experience subsequent to your affiliate status at ACCA. If it isn't enough, go back to your last degree (if you have any) and claim experience after that award (however be sure to send it to VETASSESS as well). I have applied under 175 (predecessor of 189 Skilled Independent in Skillselect).
  19. Okay erm.. I edited my post above and added a paragraph to my original post but for some reason it didn't appear. Anyway, the benefit of going with ICAA / CPA / IPA (I did mine with IPA btw) is that its up to you whether you want your experience assessed or not. Either way, DIAC will assess your experience on their own. (btw I am an ACCA, CIA and CISA as well) If you show that you audit finance function in your audits, it can be counted towards accountant (general) as well. In my case, I work for a bank and review receivables, payables, administrative, IS and customer services functions and yet, I have to be asked anything else regarding the ANZSCO code I applied under. One of my colleague who received his grant back in Sept 2012 also did the same. Finally, if I remember correctly, if you look up at the requirement for Internal Audit's skills assessment, it really doesn't ask for a CIA in fact it requires a degree with majors in accounting. Heck, affiliate status is recognized as Australian bachelor's so I reckon you can apply now but I would suggest submitting your affiliate documents as well.
  20. Welcome to the forums. - ACCA Membership will be assessed as equivalent to Bachelors. You can claim points for Bachelor's in your application. - If I am not wrong, you can claim 1 year PQE from attaining affiliate status (clearing all your papers) because that's how DIAC will look at it. Might I ask, why are you not applying under Accountant (General) scheme? Internal Audit experience will qualify as well because I am an Internal Auditor and I've applied under General scheme as well and I know couple of people who got the grant on the basis of that.
  21. I am quite sure someone will be along to guide you but here's my two cents.. DIAC considers experience after a particular degree / diploma or something. So even if you don't claim points for skills assessment, I don't know whether DIAC will consider your nominated skilled experience which isn't preceded by a Degree.. ofcourse, I could be wrong and this holds particularly true for offshore applicants. I would however advise you to consult a MARA registered agent..
  22. If I remember correctly, only full affiliate or membership status is considered as bachelor's. 3 years experience in Australia will give you the relevant points (skilled nomination work onshore). Don't you have a B.Sc degree from OBU or any other bachelor's degree?
  23. As you can see from my below timeline that I am one of those HR Country belonging applicant that can take up to 24 months for a grant. I've asked this question myself number of times and only came up with one answer. The salary! If I am tasked and paid for to do what I do, I must do to the fullest extent of my abilities whether I believe my future is not where I am while at the same time preparing myself for the coming. It is as simple as that. I believe I gave my best to where I am in 2012 in comparison to past despite the fact, I believed then I won't be in this organization for more than a year. I earned several professional certifications in 2011 and 2012 to prepare myself and now I am now training my colleagues in data analytic and other disciplines. Quite simply, they gave me experience that enabled me to apply for the visa and that's the least I could do short of staying. Back on the topic; my meds are still referred since 22nd Feb =)
