  1. Likewise i went with an agent because i thought that was the thing to do, in the end i knew more than them.
  2. i can only comment on my experience and sadly it was a poor one. The migration team i used were terrible, made lots of mistakes and cost me thousands and in the end i went about it myself and i got a grant. So what am i saying, if you want to use an agent go with someone that has been recommeded on here.
  3. Croyde is brilliant. I love having a few beers in the thatch
  4. What made you decide you have had enough and want to come home?
  5. Do the tax office hold copies of your p60? Your old employers may? I rang up my previous employers HR department and they sent me all my p60's as i think they have to hold a copy for so long.

    New Friends

Hi My wife and i are both 34 and land in ACT middle to end of May and would love to meet friends of a similar age for beers etc. Look forward to meeting up!
  7. You do know i was being sarcastic, i hope you did. This country is unique because we are the leaders in the world for human rights, and if we don't hold a moral high ground then how can we preach to other countries that dont have any? Sadly at considerable cost we give these hate preachers too much freedom, but if as a country we cant live up to the freedom we take for advantage, and by just throwing them out without question, then this would ultimately lead to some of our liberties being removed, however i do believe a compromise does need to be drawn up.
  8. What about their human rights i here the European courts asking?
  9. Hi my wife and i move at the same time. Welcome to PIO and hello. Nick and Siobhan
  10. Hi Hayley and Family my wife and i are moving to ACT at a similar time. 11. I look forward to reading the reply from fatypud
  12. I always say to myself don't worry about speaking up, if something doesn't seem right or you are not happy tell them, if they are offended then so what. Sometimes it pays to be a bit ruthless, but i am always polite. I used to worry about offending others and hurting their feelings, i learnt that they don't seem to bother about that then why would i. I mean most of these people who will help you, you are paying and will never see again. Also provide as much detail as you can upfront, that way if they ask for more money and you have proof you told them about it before hand, how can they charge again. Spend time and don't feel rushed by anyone.
  13. My question is always around support and prevention. How do we stop this spiral of self destruction? Sometimes giving money to them simply isn't the answer, it just gives the person the opportunity to continue in their downward spiral, as well as their friends and family in similar situations. But like everything cost comes into it but if your sort out one generation wont that change the next and the next thus costing the tax payer less?
  14. I informed my case officer without any problem, why would they mind i thought, they requested it and you tell them it is done. Good luck hopefully you will hear soon. Doh just read you have your visa grant, congratulations
  15. Congratulations. The hardest thing i found out after getting the visa is telling family you have it, although my family were aware it becomes reality. Its hard to be happy when everyone around is upset. Good luck with your journey
  16. Hi Harry Have you had your medical already? What is it you want to know? If it has been referred the thread medicals referred more than 30 days is a good one to look at for timings etc. The link is below Medicals refered for more than 30 days ets connect
  17. Hi Tinglesnark What are your circumstances around moving to Australia, i read you are an Expat or have been so are you already an Australian Citizen, or if not what are your plans around getting to Aus? Do you know what type of visa etc you need? As we all do on Poms In Oz, we all wish you luck and happiness in your pending exciting move and future and everyone is more than happy to help with advise.
  18. I was wondering, have any of you filled out the expression of interest form yet? When i completed my expression of interest it asks you to disclose employment information in the last 10 years, but as part of the form it asked if this was relevant work experience, so you can select yes or no. I had to supply 10 years and i have over 8 years worth of experience in my field, but because i could not prove the early parts sufficiently, eg difficult to get job role and responsibilities, p60's, wage slips etc, i decided to put no next to relevant work experience for that job, but this wasn't a break in between jobs that were relevant, but a job i was employed in over 6 years ago. Let me know if you have any questions as i have been through the process and may be able to help. Nick
  19. Thank you for that, how very kind of you.
  20. I woudnt believe you have to mention it then. Well its the same group of hospital so should be of the same standard. My only frustration i had was the doctors at little aston only worked one day a week, so they had 7 different doctors covering Monday to Saturday i believe. Why is this a problem, because only the doctor you see can complete your medical which means a weeks wait to complete because they have to wait for hiv test and x ray to come back. Yours could be different but the doctors we saw were GP's doing private work on the side.
  21. Hi Loulouhew. May i ask as i am trying to guage how much shipping will be. What size did you get quoted for shipping eg crate, half crate etc, and how much should i look to pay. I have heard anything from £3,500 to £5,000 for a crate. I am going from Derby to ACT so slightly different but understand i can go from a ball park figure. thanks Nick
  22. I understand. As CXW said, its not a costly medical condition at all and wont result in a decline, however it may refer which would be a pain because you then have to wait 8 weeks or so longer. Fingers crossed all goes ok. Out of interest where are you getting your meds done? My wife and i used the Spire Hospital in Little Aston where the people and facilities were brilliant.
  23. Before fully completing your paperwork i would speak to the hospital you are getting your medical with because if you answer yes to a medical problem, then it is very likely it will refer. How i understand the process to be is very system generated. If you answer all questions in the documentation as expected and pass the phyical with the doctor and nurse, then it should pass, however any anomoly then it will refer for global health to review. I could be wrong but i doubt that each medical needs to be eye balled if a doctor has inspected you, it is just not cost effective and efficient.
