  1. Hahah! you're very funny...shall we let this one go? pmsl...
  2. Oh I am definitely not a negative person Yes! Well it is over now, lesson learned Onwards and upwards...
  3. It was something that was meant to be done as a favour for a friend by a friend. Sadly it ended up with me being charged more than i had bargained for. As I said, my own fault and details aren't necessary I was just asking for experiences and how to avoid being ripped off and conned, I am far to trusting!
  4. Yes! I really MUST start to speak up for myself! As you say, they don't care if you are offended so why should you care if they don't like you standing up for yourself...
  5. Before I have even started the visa process, I have already had one "friend" rip me off with a smile on their face. I am in a position where I can't do much about it and as rip off's go, this is a teeny one and can be written off without much loss...the same will go for the "friend" too...bye bye! So, what are your tips for sorting the wheat from the chaff? How do you ensure that you are placing your trust in the right person and not a wolf in sheep's clothing? Is it an age and experience thing or is there an actual guide book?
  6. Hi, No neither my husband , nor I are Australian. We are both British, as are our children and dog...the cat is Spanish though...LOL! Right now we are at the very beginning of our journey, I have a few avenues to pursue but my first step is to gather my information and get my homework done! I don't know anything about the visas, although I DO know that we are aiming for something that will enable my husband to get work both in and outside of his field of expertise. We want to leave the UK and be free to choose our own destiny, up until now we have been "trapped" and then all of a sudden we discover that we do have options and endless possibilities and it tastes quite sweet! haha! Thank you for your warm welcomes!
  7. oh wow that is heartbreaking! big hugs and sending lots of sympathy :'(
  8. Hello! I stumbled across this site whilst researching Perth and all of the exciting and scary things that we need to arrange before we can just hop on a plane and begin phase 4 of our life, following our dreams and making a better life for us all! (the first 3 were meeting and falling in love, 2nd buying our own home together and 3rd becoming parents together) I am married and we have 3 children, a dog and cat. I am well travelled and have been an Expat most of my life with my parents, moving to Australia is simply another exciting move to me but more scary for my husband who has not had the same experiences! I look forward to reading about previous and current experiences and hope that I may ask for some advice when those inevitable hurdles suddenly appear! I have read a few posts and have noticed that a few have mentioned "Perth bashing" - I must admit to being curious as to why Perth in particular has come under fire? However, I have always been the sort to take as I find and rarely follow the crowd...When I do it is usually accidental and quickly rectified! haha! Happy futures and bright blessings! Tinglesnark x
