  1. HI we are in the process of doing similar, Our agent submitted the EOI and State Sponsorship application at the same time. When state sponsorship was granted, Victoria officially informed DIBP of the Victorian nomination by nominating the EOI application in SkillSelect. You should then receive an invitation to make a visa application from DIBP.
  2. Thanks guys, certainly food for thought. Its a family home so seems a no brainer. Guess I am actually looking at excuses to reduce shipping costs and aggravation!
  3. Hi All, does anyone have any thoughts/experience over what to do with the house in the UK. We plan to rent it out (short - mid term).... but keep swinging from leaving most of our stuff (sofas, beds, dining tabs etc) and rent it furnished (and review when we've been in Oz for a year or so) or shipping the lot and rent it unfurnished.. Not sure what is more appealing to UK renters?? Anybody had any similar experience??
  4. including applying for state sponsorship with Victoria on 20th June and getting this today: Your application for Victorian Government visa nomination under the 190 - Skilled Nominated scheme has been assessed and we are pleased to advise that your application is successful. bit shocked, hopefully the visa will be as easy!!
  5. Have you checked out: http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/c/computer-network-and-systems-engineer.htm This is assessed by ACS on the following criteria, for your field. http://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0018/7641/ANZSCO-Descriptions.pdf Essentially you need to convince ACS that you have worked and are qualified in that job description. A MARA agent might be able to advise, but you need to prove to ACS that your job(s) have been doing what is on that description.

    ACS Timeline

Got my answer today.... Woo! It then goes on to list the work experience i have from the last 10 years... so in theory relevant. However I am looking for VIC state sponsorship who have a requirement for 3 years post qualification... given this is regarded by ACS as July 2011, does that mean i am out of luck until July 2014 at which point i scrape in on the criteria??? Any advice / thoughts welcome.
  7. The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Australia, Desiring to provide, on the basis of reciprocity, for the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters; Have agreed as follows: www.opsi.gov.uk/SI/si1994/Uksi_19941901_en_2.htm The above link basically says that a court order (Civil and Commercial Matters) made in either country, can be enforced in the other country. But Civil and Commerical matters are not consumer debt, ie credit cards etc

    ACS Timeline

Hi, So after 14 long weeks after my ACS was submitted, and 13 weeks at stage 4 with assessor, it moved overnight to stage 4 in progress... does this mean the wait is almost over.....???
  9. Check out: http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/prepare-test/free-practice-tests there are plenty of other resources out there if you do a quick search.
  10. Hi - still waiting for ACS, currently 10 weeks in, so should get a result within the next 2 all being equal. POsitive messages on recruitment in VIC, had some good contacts, but until PR is granted its non committal. Sydney is looking good, and i've been actively chased by some companies in Brisbane.. but as I am looking at a VIC sponsored approach its a non starter.
  11. If you get stuck, its the start of the summer holidays, so you could apply for casual university accomadation... which might be cheaper and have in your back pocket. See here: http://www.colleges.unimelb.edu.au/casualaccomm/enquire.html
  12. Hi, This is what I am going through at the moment, currently stage 4 ACS assessment. And then Victoria state sponsorship. Looking forward to hear how people get on. Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
  13. It was actually the ugliest town i think. Being the crappest is different, but Hemel would probably win that too.
  14. Hi Claire, Currently going for ICT PM route into VIC and have just completed the IELTS myself. IELTS shouldn't be too problematic if you are a native speaker, just do some prep work including practicing for the written/reading ones if you haven't done exams for a while.
  15. Not via IDP, but where I took them, it was via a number of speakers wired around the exam room.
