    Rash Vests

we have found that the sun can damage things quicker, so out of direct light should help, my daughter has outgrown some before and i have passed them on, strange. always bought them out of target if i remember right. I know what you mean though actually we have had some that have done that, i just wouldn't buy too cheap if they are in the pool loads, when we didn't have a pool that is maybe why they lasted longer but when we have had a pool we have had that problem. I suppose if they are swimming alot it would be worth paying for better quality.
  10. good luck to you, ireland is beautiful, your kids are young, at least you can afford to go back, i have known a few people that want to but through finances can't we have done it twice but now we shall stay put, as one person said the biggest or one of the biggest things alot of people miss are....the people....customer care, road manners etc etc. all the best x
  11. hello, just read your message and i do feel so sorry for your situation, your wife is going through many things i have too, me and my husband have moved around for the past 30 years....he was in the army, we came to australia with three children and it took ages to settle, i think it is knowing you are so far from home, we have lived all over the world but here it seemd to play on me more, we have been here for over ten years and i still miss home but through our kids our life is here, they have a better life as england is not as it was, as you will know, we have been back twice and regretted it and returned, when the sun shines etc this place is good, we have lived in different areas of australia but not perth. Friends who live in perth love it as there seems plenty to do and it is modern compared to alot of places over here, when we came we were sent to townsville and it was like going back in time, other places too, you need friends then you feel better, going on this site i have made friends, men go to work and when we are not working etc it is very lonely, the years i have spent wondering around on my own etc is not how it should be but through a thougthful husband I have coped and things this time around are beginning to look up, life over here is better and when you go back for a visit im sure your wife will realise it, i truely believe when you make friends things will seem better, i am not saying im right but from my own experiences i know it has helped me. It is a shame you are not were i am but keep on this site and there is bound to be people popping on looking to meet, keep your chin up both of you x
  12. would love to meet too, you are near me, i am runaway bay area, i am 49 husband 50, private message me if you want to arrange a meet x

    A Social

hello, i am just wondering if there is anyone like me in the gold coast area looking to make friends, new to the area, if so please PM me..(Personal Message) & perhaps we can meet for coffee. thanks:xmas28:
  15. hello, hope your doing ok, were in the gold coast are you ? what work do you do? I am not in your age group but if you want to meet for a coffee I would happily do that, we have been here for ten years but are new to the gold coast, any help etc I can give you, no worries. Angie x
  16. hello again, we have moved so much over here due to my husbands job but truely feel settled were we are now which is the gold coast in a place called runaway bay, we love it, my husband works in brisbane in a place called wynnum, it is a bit of a drive but the job and perks are good and he doesnt mind the journey. coomera has areas that are not to nice but everywhere has places like that, my daughter and other half have lived here a while so when we were looking to buy they advised us were to go, it is handy to have someone to do that. We hadn't a clue so were pleased they could tell us. If you need any help with anything my husband will help you as it is a bit confusing obviously things are different for example having medicare cards private health etc but you probably know everything you need to know but if you do feel free to ask and we will help you as we have been here a few years now and come across most things im sure, do you know about first home buyers scheme, for new homes that is in queensland, i think it is still on but i can check, the gov give you a lump sum towards buying a house but you must not sell in the first year or you have to give it back i think its about 14 grand, weve done it. well days are getting less, not long to go. bye
  17. I am sure you will be fine, we moved over ten years ago and we have been back and returned and each time the art of it all is to be organised, if you have sold everything then half the hassle has gone, at least you can get your bits of furniture you need when you arrive which if you haven't got family etc to stay with will make things so much easier. Were are you moving to? the next few weeks will go and then you will be on your way. We are getting ourselves sorted unpacking etc I cannot wait until its all done then that is it..............we did the right thing were here to stay. All the best.

If there is a way of privately givng information, like mobile number can you tell me as I am not sure, I will then give you it or just arrange to meet somewhere for coffee. Have you got children, or will you be working? I do not work. Hope to hear from you again. Angie.
  19. Hi, I'm due to return to Oz in early June after 14 months in the UK (I'll be Brisbane based). I'm an experienced Health & Safety Manager and have developed effective risk management solutions for many different sites, projects and situations. I progressed to OH&S risk management in 1996; achieving an OH&S Graduate Diploma in 2001 and I am due to be upgraded to Chartered Member status with my professional institute in July. I have a very broad experience base, having managed workplace H&S systems in many different industry sectors, including heavy industry, military construction projects, the food industry and transport and warehousing. I am also a qualified and experienced auditor, quality systems manager and trained trainer. I have Australian citizenship, having previously worked in Oz for 10 years (Townsville, Ipswich & Melbourne). Ideally I'd like a FIFO H&S related mining position but acknowledge the difficulties in getting a foot in the door. Otherwise I have a Resume that is good to go and Australian referees that are very willing to confirm my capabilities. Many thanks for reading this post and apologies for its length. Dean
  20. just wrote you a reply and have lost it..... my advice DONT DO IT.......we have done it three times and are off back in three weeks..big mistake coming back here, the country is going down hill fast..........australia has its faults but not as many as here. try moving to another area if you can, we have hated some places we have lived and i do believe that makes you unsettled, hope this helps you it is expensive too we are citizens so we can come and go but this time we go.......and stay.
  21. hi to you al, firstly you won't or shouldn't need wardrobes as yes 99% of aussie houses have walk in robes....we have moved a few times for different reasons and have lived in ozz a good few years and have never found when moving around different areas that we have ever needed a wardrobe, they are a big item toi take as well so my advise would be to sell them. do take all your electrical goods, tv fridge washing machine tumble dryer etc, and all quilts etc as it does get damn cold in the winter, and after a year you will feel it more, the houses are not kitted out for cold weather, they dont do double glazing so when the weasther drops even in queensland you will feel it, lived there along time so i know from experience, we lived in townsville for a few years and the temperature drops enough there to use a quilt, if you take your hoover or lawn mower just makew sure you scrub them well as these things can hold your stuff up. good luck.

  23. :laugh:Ye, we are all booked and fly out to brissy on the 6th june, drive to gold coast, staying with daughter until sorted and we cannot wait, bring on the warmer weather, good food swimming all the nice things in life, we really havew missed it:wink: anyone moving to the area around that time it would be good to meet up as we will be billy no mates.....look forward to hearing from you:cool:
  24. we say just go for it......we did about ten eleven years ago as my husband joined the oz army after 22 in brit army, had to go were we were told and moved to a few areas, we totally agreed that all though melbourne is lovely for places to visit and things to do the weather is really cold in the winter and too much like england, we want the sunshine, we saw brisbane and townsville and tasmania, daughter in melbourne married and one in gold coast, we are going to settle in the gold coast but around the southport area, we go in about 4 weeks after spending time back here in england with family for the past year, coming back for good big mistake, have we know with all the moving around with the army it all depends on your own personnel taste etc, what one like another hates, weve met p[eople that love being in a cooler area of australia and those that feel australia is best were the sun is shining, you should definately rent for a while and look around, hope you get sorted. My husband is looking for health and safety work this time and he will know doubt work in brissy, our youngesst daughter is nearly twelve and so excited to get back too as she knows what a great life style she will have, we are definately staying in oz for good. good luck!
