  1. The thing is our daughter wasn't financially dependant on us .She took out a student loan and had a weekend job .In hindsight we do wish we had appealed but after all the trouble we had getting our visas and the advice from our agent that we would be paying more money out for no chance of getting the decision changed for my daughter we felt lucky to have got what we had .our visa was granted december 2011 so guessing its to late now to get it re evaluated
  2. we was with a registered migrant throughout the whole application whom said we could appeal the decision but was very unlikely that they would change the decision and advised us against it .
  3. I would start him in year 11 and look at it as your not putting him back but starting him with an advantage.
  4. Weve been here nearly two years and my daughters been out to visit a few times , she's fulfilling her degree as a primary teacher and has been granted six months leave to travel the world incl Australia in January .Although upsetting at the time (mainly for us) that she didnt get on our PR visa she has remained independent and followed her own dreams.Had she forfeited this and not gone to uni just to remain our dependant there may have been many regrets and unhappiness.
  5. Sorry didnt finish my last post ...whv , job sponsorship, student visa and maybe skilled visas are options to look at , not sure about last remaining relatives
  6. My daughter was included on our 175 visa at the age of 16 in full time education when we lodged our application but because she was at uni and staying in the halls at the time of the visa grant she was refused PR as no longer classed as a dependant of the visa applicant .Her uni loan , and the fact that she didnt live at the residing home of the visa applicant meant her PR was refused .If she had stayed at home and remained as a dependant she would have gained PR along with the rest of her family ..she will now have to apply independentantly
  7. For 40 years I never knew when the queens birthday was until I came to Australia..nor took an interest in the royal family . Through my own :huh:ignorance and unwillingness to be interested In the monarchy and be interested in history in school I have since realised it's importance within my children . My two boys in primary school have studied Australian settlement and sing weekly word for word the Australian anthem ' Australia Fayre ' at assembly. It's very touching to hear and very patriotic but quite upsetting to know that the British national anthem is only publicly known to be sang at football matches .. How many of us know the words to the British national Anthem or when the queens birthday is ???
  8. In my opinion it depends on your priorities which i have found from many people is generally where their work is and how far their are willing to travel on a daily work commute . If your work is in Brisbane then I would suggest the northern end of the Gold Coast as this will save you alot of time in your daily commute . When people are considering schools they seem to prefer the southern end of the Gold Coast . The Gold Coast I feel is not that a big a place on a weekend and can be enjoyed no matter where you reside .. In my opinion It's not your post code that matters it's yours neighbours
  9. Do you know when the mediation procedure was introduced ?? Just curious to know whether it was not offered to us due to circumstances or date being 2011
  10. Thats fantastic advice about the mediation centre , wish we had tried this first
  11. the children will be an issue you will have to have a signed affidavit from the absent father giving his consent to take them to Australia and if he won't consent to this unfortunately you will have to go through the courts
  12. I would'nt say its a ridiculous idea .. It all depends if you have the time to ensure they are cleaned thoroughly and how confident you are in your cleaning skills .. We didnt bring any gardening items over with us for fear of them being rejected and to be honest it hasn't cost us much money to replace them. it all depends on how confident and meticulous you are at ensuring they are clean .. If they are steamed cleaned , gone over with a tooth comb with jeyes fluid so there is no spec of soil , blade of grass or a grass seed then they should be ok ... Just like bikes or any other outside item .. I think many have been caught out with less obvious items such as Christmas decorations I..e fir cones , and keepsakes such as dried flowers , when packing my keepsakes I noticed one of the Mother's Day cards the kids had made me had seeds glued on it , that could have been costly , so please check everything you are packing ... Good luck with the move
  13. Maybe you have a farewell get -to- gether with friends ..as low key or upbeat as you see fit...this may provide an opportunity for your friends to express their true feelings to you ... but to be honest true friends wont need this and will be come what may .....I wud be focussing on family at this stage as they will matter most to you in the end ....your true friends will show in the end

    Visa Granted

    Congratulations
  15. You will definitely need to get a signed stat dec from the non emigrating parent to allow you to remove the child legally from the Uk . You will have to go through a solicitor to obtain this and it will cost
  16. When we arrived 2 years ago in QLD we was told it was 3 months to transfer from Uk to Aus licence .... We transferred within the first month with a temporary address no problems , not sure what we presented as I D but it was very straight forward and easy ..went down to the local office with our Uk licence and and all the ID we had and had no problems.we didn't have to take a test
  17. 45 Gold Coast 19 months West Yorkshire
  18. Personally I think people can only rain on your parade if you let them ..its only ever people that matter to you that can really Influence your decision ..so I wouldnt bother about people just fo cus on those that matter
  19. I live in a very built up area on the gold coast and lived in a complex now living in the same suburb on a circuit and have never been troubled with noise from animals or neighbours ...the suburb I live in is mainly rentals and has been classed by some as kiwi ville and little Britain ..the rent is low compared to other areas of the GC but I do know of others in more affluent areas that are having problems with noisy neighbours ..so I guess its not where you live but whom you live amongst that is the problem ...
  20. We provided copies of all full birth certificates to our agent but don't think we got them certified.
  21. I went down to the local registry office to get a copy of my full birth certificate it was a few years ago so can't remember how much it cost.
