  1. HI everyone, we were supposed to have moved to Oz over a year ago but just before we found we had been accepted for my husband's job my little 6 yr old girl got diagnosed with Neuroblastoma a rather devastating cancer. Finally she has reached clear scans although she is in remission things can still change over the next five years. We wondered if there is anyone out there who has experienced similar to us, can give advice about the hospitals, we are hoping to come under the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne for her 12 week scans she has to have, does anyone else have scans and what is it like? is it as expensive as what we think? This is a big move for us but much needed in order for us to move forward with our lives it would just be nice to be able to chat with others in the same sort of situation as ourselves.
  2. My son has just sat his G.C.S.E's here in the UK and we are moving to Victoria for the 1st October due to my husband's job. Not sure where we will be living yet as we are military and have to wait until August to find out. I expect it would be near Yellambie. My big worry is what should I do with schooling for my son? which year would be best he starts in? should I put him back a year and he resits year 11 or would it be best for him to continue as he is and go into year 11 for a little while in October then join year 12? will his exams count? I do not know enough about the Australian system so if you could help advise me in anyway I would be grateful. thank you.
  3. congrats to you paveway, we also took the chance and applied anyway but got a letter saying that there was no slots at this time, so its just luck of the draw. Glad to see it worked out for you. Sophie as Paveway says try it and see as you just never know. For us it will be strange to transfer to Army from RAF but after 22yrs its always good to have a challenge and we are always up for that and are really looking forward to it, just nervous now about what to expect at the interview. Pave have you had an interview yet? If so how did you find it? exciting times ahead for you.
  4. Hi there We are from the R.A.F and my hubby is in telecommunications. We are going down for our interview next week and have submitted all our medical docs. The R.A.A.F were not recruiting anything apart from pilots when we inquired in February so since then we applied to the ADF and it has been full speed since then for us. We have been told that we should expect to hear in October and if it is a yes then the timeline would be around the following October. Definitely wait until you are further down the line before sorting out visas as each step can be a while and also at anytime they can say you are not what they are looking for. Good luck with everything it would be great to hear how you do :0) michelle
