  1. congratulations :-). You are an Oct2010 applicant, right? Great news!
  2. It's so good to read these positive statements :cute: makes me feel better
  3. Can you say anything more on the trades/professions? Which ones are prioritized?
  4. Thank you Tania and yes, I like this kind of weeks ! :biglaugh: Let's hope you will hear something too!
  5. Maybe a lot of potential 175s who had enough points for a 175 but could get SS, probably went for the 176 SS because that is processed so much quicker.
  6. probably the same as with cat3? They had a backlog there a year ago, but now they process an application within a few weeks after lodging. If they can process the cat4 backlog and process new applications at the same speed as the current cat3s, they will have some capacity left for backlog cat5. Ok, these numbers are stupid, but just as an example let's say they can do 20 applications a day. If you have a backlog of 90 cat3, and 5 new ones coming in every day, than you will need 6 days to clear the backlog including the new ones. Then you process 5 cat3 a day, and have time to do 15 cat4 each day. If they have a backlog of 90 cat4 and 5 now ones each day, it costs 9 days to clear that. After that you only have to process 5 cat3 and 5 cat4 each day, which leaves you 10 for the backlog cat5. etc. Does that make sense?
  7. Nice. Something to look forward too .
  8. O, but you are right, my agent is playing safe. He absolutely promises nothing, always advises caution ('don't put your house up for sale until you have your visa') and is always talking in 'probably', 'maybe', 'could' etc. In this case he said it would be 'very unlikely' for us to have a CO in September. :biglaugh: And then he always continues with a line to show he is doing his best ('as you know we will certainly apply to DIAC if we feel your application takes too long'). Still, he's doing a great job, has helped us a lot, so I don't mind the maybe's.
  9. Ah, yes, I think you have the answer there: I didn't get the 18 March e-mail, samk6 did. Ok, maybe things are less unpredictable than I thought
  10. exactly. Some visas from December 2010 have been granted, some applicants from October have not heard anything. Anything can happen, with DIAC  Samk6: My agent told me September would be unlikely for us. Your agent says you will get a CO before the end of September. We're both Feb2011 applicants.... so I really think it is unpredictable . I'm pretty sure though we will have our COs (and probably even our visa) before January .
  11. I hope they will update the allocation dates next Friday... very curious to see how much progress they have made. It can't be much, with all the old-newSOL-cat4 applicants that are processed now, but still, it should be more than just 10 days in two weeks, don't you think?
  12. just read on another forum: grant for an applicant for 175, cat4, from Sept2010.
  13. So, in two days, we have one CO on a 175 visa and three grants on 885s??? That's good news :-). Congratulations! Can we keep this going please?
  14. congrats
  15. Some things just don't follow rules. I understand that there is a sequence that says cat3 first, than cat4 (oldest first) and than cat5. Still, you can see that some cat4s are being processed while there is still a backlog of three weeks in cat3, and that in cat4 some of the newer applications (2010) are processed while some of the oldest (new Sol-cat4s) are still waiting. Following: if they say they will start on cat5 in December, just maybe this will not immediately guarantee that all cat4s will be processed by then. My theory is that they work in batches, which means that if you are in a fast team on top of your batch, you will be ahead. If you are on the bottom of a slow team, you are a runner up. That could explain why it can look so disordered. That should also mean that overall the new-solcat4s really will be processed very soon, and that most of the current 2010 en 2011-cat4s will be processed before the end of the year. Even if it is not precisely in the right order. Don't you think?
  16. no, we did not get the March 18th email. I have no idea what would be realistic. Probably for us (feb2011) somewhere between Oct2011-Feb2012..... however http://skilledmigration.govspace.gov.au/ it says that they will process cat5 this financial year, which means (I think) they will do cat4 first.
  17. yes, that's what I meant. Seriously. I can see how unsettling it is when you get such a promise within days after applying, and then not to hear anything for over 5 months :-(.
  18. Just got a message back from our agent. He told us last May that, considering the speed at that time, there was a possibility for us to have a CO by September. Not any more: " The ASPC has been delayed, but is still assigning VE-175 applications to Case Officers, so there is progress. On the other hand, expecting a CO in September 2011 would not be realistic any more, in your case. " o well... October would be nice?
  19. we are feb11 applicants, did not get the 18March email.... on the other hand... , if we had, we'd probably be even more impatient by now so maybe it is a good thing we didn't get it :cute:
  20. I really was looking forward to an update. Just not this one. Why could they do 3 months in two weeks in May, and now just 16 days? :frown: Ok, let's hope next update will be better :skeptical: Let's try to look at it in a positive way: on this speed it's not going to be 18-24 months, but only 12 months in the end.
  21. and that's even more frustrating! You probably thought to have your grant before July?
  22. I know I shouldn't, but I'm disappointed. After the speed DIAC handled applications in May. At the time we really thought we'd have a good chance to have a CO somewhere around ... today? But now it looks like it could take forever. Most people go for 176 SS now, because it is so much quicker, and they all step in line in front of us.
  23. no... is there any movement at all?? :-(
