  1. Our eldest child suffers from hayfever here in Vic as he did back home in Scotland. It still doesn't stop him enjoying mountain biking or camping in any season, but it is worse for him in Spring and Summer. If you need to take cetirizine or any other similar type medications, then stock up well in the UK before you leave. We used to buy packs of 24 in the local pound-shop, but over here it's much more expensive.
  2. Call them. They usually want the delivery organised as soon as it has cleared customs.
  3. What type of cycling? Road? Mountain? Or just recreational sightseeing?

I didn't take any documents other than the visa grant documentation which the Medicare staff will ask to see. To clarify, Medicare are a government organisation. All they need to decide is are you entitled to medicare or not? If you want to take some medical documentation to your new local gp in Australia, then that is a different matter. Again, we took no documents, but some people emigrating feel the need to gather together some medical history.
  5. No such restriction on becoming UK PM. He's a dual citizen. UK PM only has to be a citizen of UK, ROI or Commonwealth aged over 18.
  6. He should run for US president at some point in the future. Americans like their quirky candidates! (Yes, he's a US citizen)
  7. I've just had a chunk of home-made tablet with my morning cuppa. Scots will know what I'm talking about! :-) I still feel a strong attachment to the old country (still have a gradually reducing family over there). That feeling may or may not change after tonight when I attend my citizenship ceremony, wearing a suit rather than my kilt. Its been a few years since I was last in the Best Wee Country in the World, but it does have a nice sense of homecoming when you hit the tarmac at Abbotsinch Airport. edit - glide on to the tarmac; sideways. Not hit.

  9. How good a footing are you on with your employer? Are they just a small outfit or a large international enterprise type of business? What would you do if your employer engineered a redundancy situation? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. That might be a good way to go about it if the OP was intending staying at the current employer long-term. However, the offer doubling the salary, with more suitable terms, elsewhere is probably the more attractive option! Unfortunately the visa situation is the tricky stumbling block.
  11. Harsh though it may seem, this would serve absolutely no purpose. Companies can change their minds, be bought by new owners, go bust, etc etc.
  12. It seems to be a change in circumstances which is outwith your control, resulting in your unfavourable situation. You didn't provide false or misleading information when you agreed to work for your sponsoring employer for at least 2 further years. Move on.

  14. There is no degree of probability. It's a total certainty that international fees will be payable.
  15. The various tours operators who do the GOR will also offer trips to Ramssy Street. There's a tour operator office at the backpackers on the corner of Flinders and Spencer, just across from Southbank. A couple of friends did the GOR last week and had a great day out with a good mix of folk on the bus. Brighton beach in May/June will possibly be quite cool and also empty; so if it's a nice winter day you'll get some good photos of the multicoloured beach boxes. City circle tourist tram will take you around the city block and dock lands and it also gives a running commentary. All other regular trams are free within the city block which is good for hopping on and off short trips. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
