  1. Hi Bobj Thanks for your reply. Sorry i thought i put the post in the NWS bit. We are trying for a 489 regional, so that is are options.
  2. Hi all just wondering if anyone lives, or has lived in a nice sub what they would recommend for a family who love sailing, rugby, and the good old out doors. We are looking at the Far South Coast, or Mid North Coast. Would love some inside knowledge. Thanks for any help.
  3. apparently you get 5 for the state regional and i think i got 5 for having a trade or 5 for her age, one of them. I know we only just got 60 that's why we are going for the 489 and not the 189 no 5 points for the 189. I think the biggest hurdle like you say is the no work experience. But hay ho we will try
  4. Hi There is a lot going against us ie her age 42, no work experience, she will have to get top marks on the Ielts test just to get 20 points, just to get 60 points over all. So the agents are saying that's are only real option. And that's not a given. We have been trying since 2011. I'm a bricklayer and thought i could go on my points but then the world recession hit and bricklaying come of the SOL list. Its back on now but i have been doing building maintenance for the past 12 years so don't qualify anymore. two step forward one back and thank you for helping us
  5. Thanks Serendipity for your advice. Can i ask what agent you went with. I have been in contacted with a few agents, and have been looking at seek but its quite tricky because if we do get a visa (489 regional) that means we can only go to that area. And looking there are normally only a few jobs at a time. your regain is not on there, which is a shame because it looks lovely. We are going to go for it, and let fate take its course.
  6. Hi Serendipity thanks for getting back, what chance do you think she has of getting a job (OT) with no work experience. I know you have 20 years so that part is not a problem when you were looking, only asking you because you have boots on the floor. The region you are in looks lovely.
  7. Hi Eloise i want to ask you a ton of questions but don't know where to start long story short wife is finishing her OT degree, only got 60 points, looking for a 489 reg visa, no work experience, she is 42 but always work in care and health so loads of experience in non trade jobs. If we can get a visa, do you think there are company out there what would consider a newbie?
  8. OTs have an issue, any particular reason? or just finding jobs. cheers
  9. Hi Amber Snowball, Yes looked into the skills assessment it goes in two stages, stage one you can do here on line. more money to pay out, lol good point about the 189 visa. thanks for replying. Visa really are a mind field. two steps forward one step back
  10. Hi All Lots of good points on this thread. My wife is just finishing her Occupational Therapy degree this year so started looking around for agents for a 489 regional, but I don't know whether to go for it or not, only because we can only get 60 points max, and that is if she gets top points on the Ielts test. Also she has no work experience. The only good thing is that the state we want to emigrate to NSW is not saying you must have 2, or 3, yrs experience. Any thoughts good or bad cheers.
  11. Hi All. Just wondering if anyone knows where to find out about how much work experience needed for each state for Occupational Therapy. Apparently each state has different preferences of how many years needed. I've emailed OT Australia (every state) contacted AHPRA they said go to Department of home affairs, cant seem to find anything. The wife is finishing her course this year so just looking at our options, 489 state registered is looking good at the mo, i think thanks for any help.
