1. We too were overpaid Tax credits from when we left, we now have an agreement with them to pay back 40 pounds a month, they were quite understanding that we had recently emigrated which shocked me after dealing with them at my previous employment. However, I did phone them a few months before we left to advise them we were leaving the country and was told to let them now closer to the time!! I'm sure they just enjoy wasting peoples time (and money for how long you are kept on hold!)
 2. We're already in Oz, not Perth, Adeliade but originally from Nottingham way. Like you it took us over 3 years to get our visa and we finally moved out here last September. Our lifes changed so much in those 3 years from deciding that we wanted to move here to getting the visa and I sometimes wonder if the visa had come through earlier things would have been different for us. We are returning home in October as things haven't worked out for us for a number of reasons. But, saying that we don't regret coming as we would have always wondered 'what if'. I had a few wobbles before we left but my hubby was so excited and couldn't wait to get here and now we have both realised our life was better in the UK and can't wait to get back! Good luck to you all making the decision/moving over here!
 3. We started off happy, lasted about 3 months and from then things got worse! We have been here nearly 10 months now and are tickets home are booked and paid for! 13 weeks and we will be off and we can't wait!! Good Luck!!
 4. I had been out 3 times when I was younger to visit my sister who has lived here over 20 years. Hubby had never been but couldn't wait to move here, now he can't wait to get back to the UK and neither can I!! Some people have said that he should have come to visit first, but he says if he came here on holiday, he would still have wanted to move. You never know until you try it for real!! Even though we are not enjoying life here I have said we will come back on holiday one day!
 5. We are moving back in October after just over a year here. We still have our house in the UK (rented out) so will be going back to it, son will go back to his old school, hubby is hoping to get his old job back too! We didn't realise until we came out here that our old life was perfect to us!! But hey ho, we will never wonder what if!!
 6. We had our first Christmas in Oz last year, we had only been here 3 months but my parents were here with us and my sister already lives here (has done for 25 years) with her family of 6 so we wasn't alone but we hated it!! Felt so unlike Christmas, we are moving back to the UK later this year and can't wait for Christmas. Even my sister says she still hasn't got used to Christmas in Oz after all her years here!
 7. I would also agree with staying put, when we started our visa, we wasn't really happy with work, life etc, had a young baby so thought it would be a good time to move. It took us 3 years to get our visa, a lot changed in 3 years, work got better, our friends became closer, we had another baby, money was easier etc. We are now in Australia and planning our return home as we now realise our life was exactly how we wanted it! We don't regret coming but if we had gone with my gut instinct when the medicals were requested, we would have saved ourselves a lot of money and heartache! Good luck with your decision, what ever you decide, x
 8. We are hoping to return in October, back home in Nottinghamshire and we will have been here 13 months by the time we leave. Can't wait, after waiting over 3 years to get our visa and now we're here we realise Australia isn't for us! Oh well, at least we won't be wondering 'what if'! Good Luck to everyone else returning home!
 9. Sounds perfect! Good luck with everything, x

Hi Helen

We're in Adelaide, shame we're not closer! How long have you been in oz? We are finding it really hard and missing nearly everything from the UK! Don't think it helps not having any friends here, and not through lack of trying, I'm forcing myself to try all the playgroups but still nothing! I went to one playgroup and a gang of mums were there, one actually sat and talked to me but told me to ring this centre who would put me in touch with a mums group, at first I thought she was being friendly until someone pointed out why couldn't I join their mums group!

Would be nice to chat to osmeone who feels the same, my email address is markandcate.scott@yahoo.com or you can send me a message on here as I'm usually on reading all the moving back posts!

 11. Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone can give me some advice?? Me and my family are emigrating soon and my parents are wanting to join us. When we first go over they are hoping to split their time between oz and the uk, 6 months here, 6 months there until we are more settled and then they are going to look into getting a visa. I am concerned as my mum is 68 this year and has type 2 diabetes and they are both slightly overweight, would this affect their chances? Would they fail the medical? Would they have to have medicals to come over for 6 months? Sorry for all the questions, I think reality has hit me now our visa is nearly here and it would break my heart to leave them behind!! Any advice would be great!!
