  1. The view from my kitchen window taken last week.
  2. I agree that it is good for refugees but it is also good for those of us who love to live here.
  3. There's going to be a lot of alarm bells go off when this idiot tries to book flights in the future. That's if he doesn't get banned from flying outright.
  4. You are 18886 days old. Feel like it too when I have to drag myself out of bed in the middle of winter. lol
  5. I'm getting a 404 for the UK link here in Oz. Here's a link that works for those of us in Oz. http://www.cnet.com/how-to/which-sites-have-patched-the-heartbleed-bug/
  6. Londongal is right. No point changing anything until the problem is fixed.
  7. 51 Melbourne outskirts semi rural. (acreage) Born here. Never want to live in the UK. Went there when I was very young as my late Mum was English and visiting relatives. I love the Oz climate and lifestyle.
  8. Dogs and cats. Had both of them all my life. A house isn't a home without a dog and a cat in my opinion.

  10. Good point but it shouldn't cause her to limp. Does she keep licking or gnawing at her paw / leg?
  11. It could be a grass seed in her paw. They are evil things, they have barbs so they work their way in and need a vet to get them out. http://www.vetwest.com.au/pet-library/grass-seeds
  12. Mozzie coil info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosquito_coil Citronella fact sheet. http://npic.orst.edu/factsheets/citronellagen.html Hope that helps HH.
  13. I burn citronella as it is much less toxic.

    The weather

I totally agree with the dry heat comments. I would much rather it be 38 or 40° and dry heat than 25° and humid. Humidity just makes me feel yuck and there's no escape.
  15. Congratulations, what a beautiful home. I love those multifold doors to bring the outside in.
  16. I missed part 2 because for some reason I can't get any signal on SBS tonight in Melbourne. I'll watch it tomorrow on SBS on demand.
  17. Yes, I watched it tonight and found it very interesting. Will certainly watch part 2 next week.
  18. I have a friend who went for Essa Stone. She put something extremely hot on it and now it has a permanent brown mark on it.
  19. Collingwood children's farm is always good. http://www.farm.org.au
  20. Great post Laura and so glad that it is working out for you and Mark.
  21. I'm 51 years of age and I could always find a job in Oz after I left school at the age of 15, whether it was detailing cars or labouring on building sites. But then I am old school and I think if you really want a job you will do anything, for want a better term. Shovelling dirt, washing cars, delivering pamphlets, there is always something out there that someone else does not want to do. I also think these days there is a huge amount of peer group pressure applied through the internet, social networking etc, that cause young people to feel in adequate if they do not have a paid job. It is tragic that it has got to the stage that they think they have nothing to live for. I must add I was born here and have lived here all my life.
  22. I was born in Melbourne in 1962 and have lived here all my life and never followed any specific team, but I'm going for Freo'. I always go for the underdog and really hope they win but being an exciting match at the same time. I had to laugh at the purple bus that drove all the way over the Nullarbor plain and it's parked in Federation Square, and the boys are partying on constantly before the match. Go Dockers. When I say underdog I mean Hawthorn have plenty of premierships over the years and as far as I know Fremantle don't have any.
  23. I really hope this does not happen. I have read (with a grain of salt) that Syria will launch attacks on Tel Aviv if the west attack in retaliation for the gas incident, and at the same time, Putin will order a massive strike on Saudi Arabia because according to Putin, Saudi Arabia have threatened to order Chechen rebels under their control to cause chaos in Russia.
