  1. I believe someone said before that the case officers do other types of visa as well, but I wondered myself if someone could not do like a triage of the applications and pick out the straight forward ones and just clear the decks. The problem then, maybe would be that everyone would feel that their case was straight forward and / or then there are ones that would feel entitled. I also feel that the time lag might be seen as a deterrent by the hierarchy of bureaucracy.
  2. As a lot of people have said it seems to be a lottery / mystery as to when they contact or grant the visa. Looking at older posts on this thread it seemed to be related to which case officer you got and a few years back you seemed to be notified of their contact email around the 3 months time. This seems to have changed but I wonder if who the case officer is still has a bearing on when the visa is granted.
  3. Are you physic @ashabree? Lol When's my visa grant coming through? You were spot on I hope there is a few coming through now as there seems to be a few of us around the same time.
  4. Snap! Application submitted 8th Sept, front loaded in Dec with Medical and police check. I know it's early compared to the published timeline but keep worrying I've missed something that would delay the granting of the visa, any communication would be a relief.
  5. Hi Folks I'm in the waiting game that is a spouse 309/100 visa application. I submitted my application 5 months ago. My passport expires in May. Should I wait until my visa is granted before applying for a replacement. Or should I get my replacement and update my immiAccount when it arrives? Does anyone have any experience of this? What happens if my visa is granted in the meantime? Is it hard to change the passport that the visa is connected to? Thanks Jonathan
  6. I'm not sure of all the requirements for the 189 visa but is there not a list of eligible skills and trades that if your occupation is not on, then you may apply 189 but will not be considered?
  7. I'm by no means an expert but the advantage with your situation with going down the spouse route as opposed to the skilled visa route is it is likely you will be granted a Permanent Residence straight away which as far as I understand you won't get on the skilled visa. With the skilled visa it may be granted quicker as long as your trade is on the required list of the state you want to go to.
  8. Five months on Wednesday or 154 days, or 3696 hours not that I'm counting. No communication so far either Good luck everyone.
  9. Hi Aussiedreamers How you progress with the application process is a bit different for everyone. Speaking for myself it was triggered when the opportunity for redundancy came from my work I had been in the same job for over 20 years. My wife who is Ozzy and I saw it as an opportunity to fund the move. So I finished work end of July and Wife and two kids moved over to Australia to stay with Friends at the end of September. They have since rented a house. This gave me the opportunity to pack everything up and renovate our house to put on the market. Our belongings were packed into a container in October and shipped to Australia. This in the end up helped in two ways - with the renovation and for potential buyers to see a blank canvas so to speak. I would recommend getting your house ready and on the market as soon as. Certainly around the 4 to 5 months mark after the application has been submitted. Unless you can afford to I would keep work going until Visa is granted. Medicals and Police checks The thing about these is that they are time limited valid for 12 months and I believe have to be valid when you enter Australia to activate your Visa, but I'm not sure about that. Some people wait 3 - 4 months and front load their ImmiAccount with their medicals and police checks (PC) that means they are still valid even if your application takes the full, as published time of 10 to 14 months to process. The advantage of not doing this is your case officer will contact you and ask you to go and get these things done. The reason this is an advantage is that you then know for sure you have a case officer looking at your application, who will contact you and ask you to go and get these things done with a time limit most now seem to be 28 days. If like me you front load them you are left guessing as to whether you have a case officer or not, as some people don't hear anything until they receive an email with the grant of their visa. If you have lived anywhere else other than UK I would apply for police check in that country now. I have seen people waiting 3 months for that, depending on the country. Take the opportunity to get ready it is going to be a waiting game and for most people frustrating, particularly as you get closer to the grant of your visa and the start of your new life. My tuppence worth Johnny
  10. Just got so excited I thought it was here ...... but no. It was the reply from my email query 2 weeks ago (I had an automatic reply stating they would respond in 5 working days???) I haven't been in touch with them since.
  11. Hi I see Carahunter4 said that your husband was approved as your sponsor how did you see this? Did their status change on the immiAccount? Has anybody else seen this? How soon before the grant of the visa? Johnny
  12. Hi which of the London panel are you using for the medical I done mine in Spire
  13. Hi Vicki1 You applied about a week ahead of myself. I'm very anxious to get moving as well my wife has been over since September. Hopefully we will all get word soon.
  14. Hi Snifter I know you have given sound advice about the waiting time for the process of the spouse visa. On both occasions that I phoned the Europe service center I had queries (probably best answered by a CO which is why I asked the callhandler if I had one assigned) before Christmas it was in regard to whether I required a police check from Ireland as I had an Irish passport, last week might have been a bit closer to being in general in content in my current situation I'm planning to go over to Adelaide on a tourist visa if need be but again as everyone's circumstances are different and as I come closer to the timeframe when most applicants visa is granted, it doesn't make sense logically or financially to travel to Australia one week and the very next week be granted my 309/100 visa and have to leave the country again. As for spending my time in UK yeah as a family we done some of this before my wife and kids went to Adelaide. Since then I have spent time with family and friends especially my father who is now getting on in age and wil be living on his own. I have packed almost everything up and shipped them over to Adelaide and that has now arrived there. I renovated our house and put it on the market and have agreed an offer and the new owners rightly want to move in and while I have contingency plans as I can stay either with my father or another member of the family, if need be. In short the finances that were there to pay for the move are rapidly running out which limits alot of things that you can do, I understand that this is not the CO's or the process's fault but a bit of clarity or empathy can go a long way. Previously the process actually seemed to have more clarity in virtually all cases the CO was assigned around 3 months time and at least then there was an actual point of contact, whilst this may still be the case the CO seems to be much more detached and stay in the background. In short I know you were giving good sense advice, thank you Jonathan
  15. Hi Ozzie Yeah once house is sorted I intend to travel to Australia if my spouse visa is not sorted I will get a tourist visa. This is the sort of thing I wanted to check confirm when I phoned the Europe Service Center. As it obviously doesn't make sense to travel to Australia on a tourist visa one week and the following week have tou spouse visa granted thus meaning further expense of having to leave Australia to activate the spouse visa. Also if traveling on tourist visa going through immigration without a return flight etc etc and it would be clear that I was intending to stay. My intention is not to get special treatment or jump the queue, rather to gain clarity that I can plan the start of the rest of my life. Thanks for the good solid advice. Johnny
  16. Has anything on your immiaccount changed? I was told bu incredibly unhelpful adviser on the phone that she couldn't tell if a CO had been assigned. Jonathan
  17. Hi I see you applied a week before myself and have similar situation. Have you heard anything recently? Jonathan
