  1. Yeah just currently looking into the prospect of buying, just seeing what the associated costs outside of a mortgage payment. Is that an annual rate you listed? Nothing would surprise me in sydney!!!
  2. Thanks so much, crikey so much to think about and investigate! Thanks all for your info! X
  3. Hi all, does anyone know how to calculate the rates? Specifically to the Hills District NSW? I went to the Hills Shire Website to calculate but it says I need the land valuation?!! So confused.
  4. Hi all, Does anyone know where to look to find out the school performance assessment grade or equivalent in Sydney NSW? thanks for your help!
  5. The house prices in Sydney do suck, that's for sure. If the transport infrastructure were up to date already, it would be so much easier to contemplate living further out from the CBD. Still determined to get on the ladder though, even if the commute is ridiculous.
  6. Unfortunateky it's too big for luggage as the weight is too heavy. Arrrgh what to do! I wouldn't normally care but I REALLY love this bowl! #firstworldproblems!!!
  7. thanks everyone, I wouldn't be worried if every shipping surveyor hadn't pointed it out, they says we will need to declare it as it's a natural carved wooden bowl, trying to work out if it's worth the risk! I really love it but if it's going to cost heaps to have it treated by quarantine or before then I guess I would have to let it go. Xxx
  8. Does anyone know of a service provider that can 'heat treat' a wooden bowl prior to it being shipped to Aus? Im hoping that if it were to have certification of treatment that quarantine would accept this. Does anyone know of this or been in a similar situation?
  9. Let us know what dundas is like! What made you choose Dundas?
  10. Thavk you so much for this- it's really helpful!!!! And so kind of you to research for me!
  11. Thank you and good luck to you too! :-)
  12. Yep! We fly on the 4th may!!!! Eeeek flying to sydney with my husband and baby boy! BRING.IT.ON
  13. Hi all, we are shipping 700 cubic ft to Sydney in May on a shared container, received two quotes so far varying between £2900 and £3100. One company has advised that there is nearly always a quarantine and MAF cost ($400 per 20ft container as a guide) whereas the other has said there is no cost unless inspected but if we are in a shared container, even if it's not our goods that are inspected, we are liable for a proportion of the cost. Has anyone experienced this and able to clarify? Thanks so much
  14. I used to live in Randwick and found the bus into the city a nightmare! Some occasions it would take 1 hour 15 with the traffic! Wouldn't recommend it. My advice is Cronulla as the trains are quite reliable and gives you a more secure commute time
  15. thanks so much ozmaniac! Really appreciate your info! :-)
  16. recommend Sydney for opportunities and salary- particularly for accountants. Sydney housing is expensive though, which is a draw back. I lived in Sydney for 2.5 years and returned to the UK due to homesickness but I also quickly realised that Sydney had become my new home without my even realising. Cant wait to get back!
  17. Yep! Moving on 4th May with my husband (Aussie husband) and baby son, so excited! Entering initially on the long stay tourist visa and will hop over to NZ when my partner visa is finally issued. Planning on living in the Hills district or somewhere out west due to affordability and space. Staying with family until shipping arrives and husbands job is secure. Very excited but nervous of areas to live.
  18. I have a subclass 100 visa processing due to be granted between July-Oct this year, however I'm travelling to Sydney in May so will require an e600 long stay tourist visa. Does anyone know if this particular visa is activation upon entry to Australia or is granted before departure and valid from that date? As as I also have the subclass 100 visa processing should I be wary of anything that may cause problems with my original application? If anyone has done this already and has any advice or info that would be fab, thank you! :-)
  19. finally got to the bottom of this- my migration was incorrect and the reason being is that a good proportion of his clients have actually been onshore when their visa had been granted, according to him the department of immigration has acknowledged the clerical errors with this and have ironed out the 'kinks within the system' to avoid thus happening in the future. So looks like I will have to go to NZ after all. Will make the best of it though as I have never been before. First family holiday abroad :-)
  20. hmmmmm this is very puzzling- my immigration agent directed me to a page from the department of immigrations 'Extranet' This is in essence the guidebook available only to the department staff or registered migration agents. The reason he did this is because I questioned the same thing. Leave it with me and I will ask him to do a print screen of the visa claus and come back to you.
  21. I haven't done it yet but this is what I will be doing in a couple of months. My migration agent has advised that I can enter on the e600 visitor visa with no issue. I was very nervous of that prospect but he has assured that a good percentage of his clients do the same thing with no problems. Dependant on whether you are applying for the subclass 100 or 309 will dictate whether you need to vacate the country when it comes time for your visa to be issued. (For example I have applied directly for the subclass 100 so will not need to leave Aus while my PR visa is issued)
  22. Thank you that's great- I know what to expect now.
  23. I have my medical this week and I'm curious as to what's involved- I know there will be an X-ray and blood test but aside from that I'm not sure.... Do you have to get naked?! I'm dreading it for myself and for the doc! Lol
  24. Application lodged:31st July 2014 Case officer assigned: August 5th 2014 Police and Medical checks requested for after 31st Jan 2015 Expected Grant date between July-October (10-14 months wait time!!!)
