  1. hello Jigish remember me from the ICT recent grad thread last year ? I got married last year and my wife applied for the 309 visa on 24/01/2012, she got the visa on 27/04/2012- just 3 months and 3 days. I recommend going straight for the partner visa rather than wasting time and money on a tourist visa. The 6-9 months on the high commission website is only a worst case scenario IMHO... Just make sure you have all the paperwork ready and you should be alright...
  2. 'ICT business analyst' would be the best and probably only option for you here. Your occupation needs to be listed on the SOL for you to be able to lodge an independent skilled visa. State migration plans could another route, but I do not recall any SMPs with the occupation 'ICT project manager'.... The other option would be to find an employer willing to sponsor you here. Cheers, Sky
  3. congrats mate long long time coming !
  4. speak for urself 'mate' :goofy:
  5. Must be just for statistical purposes I reckon.
  6. I dont think you can apply for an 885 on a bridging visa: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/885/eligibility-applicant.htm "You may also be eligible to apply if you do not hold one of the above visas but have held an Overseas Student visa in the last six months and met the threshold requirements to apply for a General Skilled Migration visa."
  7. well i think ur friend better consult a migration agent, I do not think he is eligible to apply for an onshore 885 visa.
  8. for those of us unable to get into an ivy league institute in the UK/US, going to a mid tier institute there wouldnt be much different than coming here....
  9. so u agree that Australian society is better than the society you came from, hence your decision to come here ?
  10. "if one goes to regional places like Rockhampton and Bundaberg..you will still be heckled for your color.." so wonder why that hasn't happened to me ?? odd........ :biglaugh:
  11. yeah good for me.... but wasnt ur argument that people come here for an education merely to migrate ?
  12. nobody 'wants' to end up second best, sometimes we just have to make do with what we get.
  13. Sorry to disappoint you but I come from a regional area mate... Toowoomba... :cute: havent experienced any race related issues here :goofy:
  14. U sound as though the doors to "HARVARD,YALE,MIT,CAMBRIDGE,OXFORD" are wide open and anyone can enter at will so long as they have a superb GRE/GMAT score. Obviously you have no experience in applying at these institutes. My friend there are many factors other than just academic scores one has to worry about when trying to gain access into an 'ivy' league institute. True though that Aussie unis do not have the reputation these places of higher learning have. That said not everyone is smart enough to get admission there some of us just have to go with what we get. Australian admission I got so I went.... "The Australian society in general is not very welcoming of anyone foreign, who is colored!...." if this is the case why did you even bother coming or try to come here in the first place ? ... I have been working professionally here for 2 years now and I personally have not experienced any sort of discrimination you are describing. Quite the contrary, folks here go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I have experienced caste discrimination in India though especially when I need to get something donme in the govt/public offices .
  15. I for one am quite happy with the degree I obtained here ... what were you expecting precisely ? all degrees regardless of the university are but pieces of paper. It is what you make of it in life that matters :wubclub:
