  1. It means travel after you got your permanent resident visa. You have to be in Australia 12 months before you apply for the citizenship and should not be absent more than 90 days.If you have stayed more than 90 days you might have to provide police clearance from the country where you lived. Better contact Department of immigration to check your status and your eligibility for citizenship application. They will clarify it to you and give you the exact date when you can apply.
  2. Thanks James. Yes the council send me a formal invitation via email to which i replied confirming my attendance. I am allowed to bring three guests as well. Invitation also stated that i have to reply within 15 Days otherwise they would put my name in the next ceremony.
  3. Thanks! It was a normal application. Initially they gave me a date for 27Sept 2016 which was 3 months away, so I called them and re booked the appointment date to 27th June. Appointment went smoothly no issues with my documents, passed the test and received the approval letter in a week's time. City of Belmont received my details from Immigration 2 days after my approval letter ( I called them to check). I have received formal invitation to attend the ceremony :)a week after.

  5. I am an IT professional with a bachelors degree in Computer Sciences and more then 8 years experience working for different companies as a systems/IT support engineer.I have been in Perth on Permanent resident visa for an year now .Had done some short term contract IT support work for two companies but struggling to find full time employment.Had many interviews, but no company wants to hire me.Can some body help ?
  6. Bibbs, its not that I have been idle totally.I was working for a major company here as an IT Support engineer but it was a fixed term project job so they have to let go of the staff. On agencies I do agree with that they are useless bunch of people who wouldnt help you in any way. They take your resume call you for interview and then NADAAA.Y ou are forgotten like you never existed.I am sorry to say but I really had bad experiences with them.I do apply to them but occasionally, mostly i do apply directly to the company. If I didn't had a good resume I wouldn't have been getting any interview calls at all or if my English was poor i wouldn't have got the job in the first place.Any particular accent also doesn't matter as I have seen lots of people with non English speaking backgrounds working in IT support roles here in Perth.
  7. Hi Jules Thanks for your reply.I will try BT but usually big companies look for perfect candidates even for shortlisting.I have already been contacted via another job board website called FIFO BIDs.But no luck on that as the company guy never called for an interview even though he asked for a time of availability and other details.I am constantly looking and do get occasional interview calls but no job offers.I have been here now for one year and my status is Permanent resident.
  8. I am an IT professional with several years of experience working with different companies.I have been looking for work here in Perth got some interview calls too but was not successful. Its been almost 3 months now.Is the market for IT support roles slow ? Any one facing the same situation ?
  9. I bought mine a TOSHIBA satellite with a 2nd generation corei5 FOR 600 Bucks from dick smith in the city. Before you go for the kill better check every store as they all have varying prices and who knows you may get a good deal somewhere.Stores to check are Harvey norman,Dick smith,Office works and JBHi fi.For online stores i can give you few websites which are all Aussie based and few of them Perth based: http://www.i-tech.com.au/ http://www.eyo.com.au/ http://foxcomp.com.au/ http://www.austin.net.au/ http://www.arrowcomputers.com.au/ http://www.ple.com.au/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryId=312 http://www.netplus.com.au/ http://www.msy.com.au/ http://www.stormcomputers.com.au/catalog/

  11. Best option would be to book a room in a hostel.I have stayed in one when i arrived for about 2 weeks. Its cheaper then hotels and you can cook for yourself. My suggestion would be to stay in TOWNSEND LODGE(http://www.townsend.wa.edu.au/),its a good budget hostel with single rooms and shared kitchen in the heart of Perth CBD.You can find yourself a permanent place in the mean time
  12. Check your pm i have posted few hostel website addresses.
  13. Hi kianobeano Good to know your OH is going too at the same time.I have searched few sites but the response is not so good.I guess initially i have to stay in some hostel till i get a proper place to settle down.Hostels atleast are cheaper then hotels and there are some good hostels as well such as YMCA. What are your plans ? Have you found anything ?
  14. One should be very careful and not make payments until they see the property themselves and are satisfied.
  15. I agree with you on this, infact one of the guy wanted to give me a room on the elm street in Perth and the same guy on another site was giving the same room with different identity(Pretending to be a woman) on a different site. I told the bugger that you are one BIG FRAUD !! and i will report you to the Western Australian Police haven't heard from him again.
  16. I have tried them but the problem is that very few people there wants to deal with people from overseas. You have to be physically present in Perth to deal with them.
  17. I am single and got my Permanent Residence. I will be moving to Perth on 31st and need accommodation on shared basis as soon as possible.Any help would be much appreciated.
  18. You have to have atleast something in IT a diploma.I don't think ACS will count your experience without any formal qualifications in your relevant field.Better check the assessment criteria on their website you will get a better picture.
  19. I have applied with 2231-79 for state sponsorship, later on they changed all the codes so I had to contact my sponsoring state i.e. WA.They advised me to wait as they were having negotiations with DIAC on behalf of applicants they already sponsored. Finally the were successful in their negotiations and I was processed by DIAC on the same CODE.I did not carry out reassessment with ACS but I believe many people did so though i am not sure about their outcomes.I am one Lucky person for sure.
  20. I am of the same category Computing Professional NEC and I got my visa after my sponsoring state honored there sponsorship.
  21. Australian Immigration wouldn't have a problem with the visa label but the country where you reside may want you to have visa evidenced on the passport before you depart, as it is in my case .
