  1. It cetainly is a minefield but I think if your determind hopefully youll find a way.I think it was a 175/176 visa when I started lol although I now sometimes I think if id just got a good agent then I have had my visa but hey ho hindsights a wonderful thing
  2. I am the same been trying for years and one way or another was always short of points never really looked at the 489 as thought you had to start application from the start after the two years and was worried my son would then be too old to be included.Im still not too sure of the ins and outs but from what I understand is that as long as you can prove you have worked and lived in a regional area for 2 years then that's all that's required you don't have to redo police checks medical ect would appreciate any information on this as this is now looking like s viable option for me if I can find a state offering sponsorship to Nurses.
  3. Hi looking for some info please. I have recently applied to AHPRA for registration and my plan is to go in person while on Holiday to Aus to pick up my registration then apply for a modified assessment skills assume that on my return. I have a friend who has recently registered and they have sent my a copy of details they had to show. 1) foreign passport with travel visa 2) proof of Aus address and or 3) offer of employment. I was wondering if any one has recently registered in person on a tourist visa and even if this is now possible. Thanks
  4. Thank you for the info
  5. Hi just looking for some advice as I see that you all have recently applied for AHPRA registration. I am filling out the application form and I am a bit confused in regards to proof of identity documents ? I have previously had registration in principle twice :wideeyed: but it's been cancelled as I did not attend in person within the year. However I'm unsure if I only take the identity document when I attend in person and don't send copies of passport , utility bill , marriage certificate at this point. I am also awaiting a reference number from Fit2work which is also new  lol Thanks
  6. Hi, just found out out about the Pte test and have been researching some info online. I have noticed the Edinburgh test are on Mondays at 2 o'clock and was wondering if anybody knows how long the test normally takes ? Thanks
  7. Thank you so much for your help  I only logged in to offer some advice to sns and it's helped me so much already. I am going to look at the Pte as I sat Academic IELTS Once for my ANMAC registration and the General seven times and kept missing out by 1/2 a mark on one section every time. I am already planning to get my AHPRA first then appear in person in Aus to validate then apply for ANMAC modified assessment so needing the PTE /IELTS for extra points
  8. Thank you was just reading through the recommened thread and just going to look for some practice material is there any you would recommend also how long does the test take ?
  9. Hi sns I think you only need 60 points so one way or another you should have enough  I am a staff nurse with a Bachelors Degree in Adult Nursing and 5 years work experience. I'll have to look at the PTE I sat IELTS 8 times and eventually gave up so any alternative might be worth looking at although I live in Scotland so not sure if there are places here that do it ?
  10. Hi sns, I has a similar thread 2 years ago on here not sure how to post link sorry.I too was unsure and even after posting on here there was no clear answer so I contacted DIAC directly and they clearly said that only if the full period had been fully paid could be included and as mine was 8 weeks full pay and the other 6 months was half wages and SMP that that definatley would not be included and as I didn't want to risk getting to final visa stage and not havung the required points I decided to not to risk it as I had heard previously of some people's visa been refused due to claimimg points for work exprience that had not deducted .I am now starting again and hoping to claim 5 year's experience point but I will make sure ive got 5 years 9 months to ensure my maternity leave is not included. Hope this has been helpful if you have a look you might find my thread as there was a few very helpful posts in it
  11. Thank you so much for your help much appreciated x
  12. Hi again, Could i also ask as I am preparing the paperwork for my skills assessment any advice on what was required for the modified assessment as appose to the full assessment . thanks again for your help x
  13. Hi Devonshirescot, thanks for your reply I take it you had no problem using a tourist visa to collect your registration ? Did you take any other paperwork with you and was it straightforward enough? thanks again
  14. Hi Devonshirescot, just wondering how you got on with you assessment as I am in the same situation and unsure if it would be easier and quicker to go to AHPRA in person and then get a modified assessment although it would be an expensive trip. I have had both AHPRA and a skill assessment previously which are now out of date. Although I have recently got my LOE from AHPRA again So would be gratefully to know how you go on xxx
  15. Aww must be a hard decision although maybe it would be different this time if you knew you what to expect and you must have been devastated when you ex returned and this probably didnt help you to settle. Maybe it will be a whole different experience as you only need to worry about yourself this time round. I cant advise you what to do but if you feel torn maybe you should just give it another go the fact you done it before especially given the bad start you had shows that you more than capable of doing it again x
  16. Hi , not sure if everyone is already aware but after reading a post on Poms in Perth "changes to ahpra registration finalisation" where the nurse was able to validate her registration with some certified ID which included a certified copy of a visitor visa which was posted to ahpra instead of having to appear in person. After I read this I emailed ahpra and enquired in regards to these new changes and they confirmed that this was now the case. Although I need to reapply anyway as was unable to validate mine under the old rules but hopefully this may help other nurses who are struggling to get visas ect before the registration expires.
  17. Hi folks, I got a reply from the enquiry email I sent a few hours after I sent it which stated that only periods of leave on full pay can be counted as a time during which an applicant was employed. Periods of extended leave , such as maternity leave may not. Thank you all again for all your help I am just going to keep at the Ielts till I pass as I have everything else ready just the 10 points short :-( and I suppose eventually I will have the 3 years experience a few months after returning to work. I been at this for a few years and Its has been a journey to say the least with many changes along the way such as various changes to visa system, trying to get a job to get experience was a challenge in its self , and a new wee passenger who is more than worth the delay :-) so heres hoping 2014 is the year where all my hard work pays off xxx Thanks again for all your help and Merry Christmas :cute:
  18. Thank you all again for your help. I work for the NHS and they have a really good Maternity policy full wages for first 8 weeks then half plus SMP for the remainder although i think there is an option to taker longer with less but I have not opted to do this . I intend to be fully honest with immigration and if its not included then thats fine I have no problem with that. I have also sent a email enquiry to DIAC although not sure if they are to busy to answer individual queries but thought it was worth a try x Thank you all again for taking the time to read and reply to my post x
  19. Yes it's is paid and I will definitely be returning to work. Thanks again x
