  4. Thanks, hopefully you'll hear soon too. Really does depend on our local councils then. I tried to change the test date but nothing sooner was available. Husband and I have same date but 1 1/2 hours apart, not very helpful.
  5. I applied on 9 July and also received notification email immediately. I heard nothing else until 21 Sept when I received the email with my test and interview date for 9th Nov. I think it depends on the council you live in, I'm on the Sunshine Coast, not much happens quickly here!
  6. Hi Leanie We applied 9th July so not at the 80 days just yet. Suppose I'll give it another month and then will call them. I waited long enough for my PR so what's a few more months waiting?
  7. Anyone applied through Sunshine Coast Council? I applied 2 months ago and have heard nothing apart from the confirmation email I received as soon as I applied online.
  8. Just ask your agent if you can go on a periodic lease, that's what we did when in the same situation as you. If they agree you only need to give 2 weeks notice to leave.
  9. You won't be entitled to any concessions unless you are a PR when you sign the contract. We went through this last year and the seller agreed to not dating the contracts until we received our PR. Although you say your nomination is about to go through and you expect your visa 28 days after, this is not a given and there is no way of knowing how long you have to wait for your PR or even if it will be granted.
  10. Don't rely on picking up cheap school uniforms, where I live in QLD all schools have branded uniforms that can only be bought in designated shops. These are by no means cheap e.g a school dress at our school is $50, Polo shirts about $25-30, shorts $20-25, school bag $50 and depending on the school there may be a formal uniform and a sports uniform.
  11. You can not lodge a visa application without a nomination being lodged beforehand. Some people lodge the nomination and then immediately lodge the application after hence the Nom & visa having same lodgement dates. Your MA will be able to confirm the date your nomination was lodged but it's not really necessary for you to know. Best to just forget about the whole process for a good few months before it consumes your whole life. Good luck!
  12. Maybe message one of the agents that contribute to this forum? I'm not sure if it is your responsibility to inform DIBP or your previous employers.
  13. Check your visa details here: https://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Visa
  14. I'd been waiting 11 1/2 months and they were very understanding each time I called. You will speak to an admin team member and they will only say your application is being processed so unless you have a direct number I wouldn't bother with the 13 number and the hour or so wait to be honest. You've only been in the visa queue for a month, might just need to sit tight for a while.
  15. Thanks OzDad, hope yours is next. After speaking with my CO yesterday I asked my MA to call up today and speak with her too. 20 minutes later she called to say visa was granted. Just signed contracts a block of land today too, big day for my family.
  16. Wow 10 years, that's a long time living in limbo. I did well up a little when my MA spoke to me, might take the rest of the afternoon off and celebrate! Hopefully your time will come soon.
  17. Finally my time has come! After moving to Australia 5 years, 7 months and 2 weeks ago my PR has just been granted.
  18. It's 28 calendar days but that is just a guideline, from experience it can take longer.
