    Yorkshire Dales

Yes I agree it's not the same, I am going back to Dublin for Christmas and New Year and the things that are happening that my Husbands family are planning is amazing, will let you all know how I feel when I get back although it won't be the same for me as I won't be with my parents and siblings xx
  2. Hi Nicola, you could get your current house valued and if you are looking for something new and find something you love you can put your offer in with the condition of you selling your other house, I know people have done that There is also a Bridging Loan which you can use, not exactly sure on the details but if you look at google or the banks they will give you all the info As for the equity in you current house if you have enough you may be able to use that as a deposit on a new one, but would you be looking at keeping the the old house as an investment or selling straight away? Good Luck x
  3. Glad you both arrived safely, wishing you both the best of luck, photos are lovely x
  4. Lovely photos Fifi, looks like you had a great time, thanks for sharing x
  5. I know a few off my neighbours, but to be honest I could never just throw something in their bin without asking!! I mean I have asked a couple off times as they have which as been no problem at all , but at 11pm at night I guess you have a point about the time, did you tell the neighbour it was late at night and you didn't think they would mind or it was too late to ask, maybe just clear the air, if she is an older lady she may be set in her ways or just be pedantic as some people have said, but I wouldn't let it ruin being and having a good neighbour!! maybe try clear the air x
  6. Just to be clear when I made my original post I wasn't comparing to other Countries I have been here just short off 25 years and I stated fact in that 5 years ago things was alot cheaper my shopping, power bill, gas bill, council rates and water rates and so on were nearly half what they are now (not everything of course). It is the same in a lot of Countries I presume, add to that the fact my Children are getting older and everything costs alot more as they become bigger people and not little people anymore, I ddn't work 5 years ago and we managed just as good, I think the more you earn sometimes the harder it gets to be honest. We like to Holiday I admit but we rarely eat out, we are more the type to BBQ at home and have a few drinks be it at our house or family/friends houses x
  7. Fantastic News, so happy for you both xxxxxx
  8. We earn double what we earned 4 years ago and to be honest we find it tougher now than what we did then, things have increased so much in the last 5 years
  9. I have no idea at all, but I wouldn't say it would be a problem, hopefully someone will be along soon to help, just want to wish you good luck and I hope all the tests come back with positive results, big hugs to you and please take care of yourself, the quicker you get here may help you relax even more and make you feel better xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Bush living!

Yes I do well very close to the bush 100 metres or so, we have been in the same position as NSW but not on the same level of course, 71 houses lost and no lives lost (Thank God), but my parents and 3 friends lost their homes and for them to rebuild and move on was nothing we can understand, just be there and love and support, would any of them move, not in a million years, because the support from the community at large was unbelievable although we are classed at the worst areas in Perth (well close to it one of the worst), we were only in our home 3 months when the fire happened we were very lucky, but no one has any idea what it cost people to rebuild, as you can imagine most of the houses are on blocks that are low level or high level sothe cost of retaining came in at upto $100,000 at least for a lot of people because things have changed a lot since houses were built in the 70's and 80''s, which meant a lot of people were uninsured if that makes sense, the fires were caused by a silly accident and the man that made that accident has had a terrible time since, people have now made a civil action against him which my parent and friends want nothing to do with. That man has to live with his accident forever that is enough in our minds. I hope and pray that the people of NSW will be okay and enough had insurance and the person who died RIP, but would I stay to save my home NO, my parents left and didn't realise as they walked out the front door the back roof of the house was already on Fire, I live 250 from my parents and before I had even left my home theirs was already gone!!!, We have only recently discovered which you usually don't appreciate when it's right in front of you, that we have at our doorstep what everyone drives to MR for except the beaches and wineries for, if people love where they live I don't know if this would change theirs minds, yes they maybe more cautious and make sure their land is clear from trees near the house xxx
  11. I hope it heals okay Nick, bless the your little boy xx no advice sorry, I am 3 minutes from the Hospital so I always go the ED if I have too x
  12. Well we do like to Share Cath, we will send them down soon enough lol x
  13. Lol Tonyman, Hubby will kill for telling this story, the flies love him, we watch him out doing the garden (not enough I might add) and watch him flap his arms about muttering F Off (sorry) and we have a laugh, but Christmas before last one flew into his ear wasn't so funny then I had to take him to ED and they had to take it out, he said he could hear it buzzing in his ear, we all had a great laugh over Christmas about it, but they drive him bonkers x
  14. I will disagree now, maybe it is being in the hills that makes them hang around longer here x

    Dublin!

Looking more into it Debz is right, great location and good prices I think The Brazen Head (oldest Irish pub) is about a 800mtr walk Guinness Brewery about 2km or so walk Trinity College (tour to see book of Kells) about 600mtr walk and you are pretty much at O Connell street which everything runs off, Shopping and great pubs, if you miss Oz you can even go to the Woolshed Baa & Grill Aussie pub serving Aussie Beer lol xx

    Dublin!

Hiya Mad Cow, I know being from Dublin I should be able to help, but I have never had to worry about accommodation, always stay with relatives, The City is great so the closer you can get to O'Connell Street the better, great pubs everywhere, Stephen's Green near Trinity College, and you can even walk up by the River Liffey to the oldest pub in Dublin, I will try get a list of few places you must see and do, a list I may even use myself as all we seem to do is cater for all the families to make sure we see them all and it is draining although we love them all dearly lol xx
  18. Amazing photos, thanks for sharing xx
  19. You would be better off paying a bit extra for Rent than paying for private schools, Rossmoyne is one of the Best Public High Schools in Australia and good times to the City x
  20. Every School has an Athletics Carnival and they are all awesome for every child at every school, you don't have to pay big $$ to have a great school, glad you enjoyed your Childs Carnival though, what school is your child at ?? x
  21. It's a lovely State and Melbourne is a fantastic City lots of reasons for people wanting to move there..
  22. Oh I am not here on a 457 sorry I have been here 25 years, I am just pleased that they had a rethink on the whole thing, that's all, yes I suppose those who will have it factored into their Salary Package will be very lucky x
  23. I said petition and uproar, a combination of many things had them have a rethink yes, I never said just a petition!
  24. most private school fees aren't close to $4000 for primary school, of course except for the prestige schools in the likes off Claremont,Nedlands and Swanbourne . A better outcome, so the petition and uproar wasn't a waste of total time and someone did pay attention. Leaving it till 2015 means people can prepare a bit better for the fees and I think the reduction for 2nd child onwards is good. I suppose most people on a 457 coming out from here on in may have all this factored into their Salary with the sponsoring employer which will ease the costs for them. My main concern was the one's already here on a 457 who probably could never have afforded it, I know people who are working in the South West in an abattoir and don't earn huge money like those in the mining still don't agree with it to be honest. But I must admit I didn't realise that people were paying school fees in public schools over East.
  25. I don't agree with you Sammy, most people I know Aussies and PR, Citizenship don't agree for this fee more so for the people already here on their 457's, I think it is totally wrong in general, most schools don't get the voluntary fees from the majority of the parents as it is now and that is on average about $40 to $70 per year (WA), if there needs to be a fee it should be nothing like the proposed $4000 per child x
