  1. Wishful is taking a break from poms in oz ..... I will post again when I actually have a plane ticket booked to go home so about 4 years I think ( or if I need packing advice etc ). Its just not for me. I consider myself an Auspom and I do love Australia but its not my first home. There are far too many people on here that are trying to justify their move out here and in order to do it they have to put down the UK - and I just cant do it . Love to everyone and good luck with all your future plans whatever they may be Wishful xxxx
  2. OK you know what come ........ dont take my word for it just come and see for yourselves , I have NO vested interest in lieing about any of this . I wish someone had been honest with my parents when we came. All the best to everyone who is coming here hope it works out for you xx
  3. OK now I am convinced ( no joke) that these posts are put up to get reactions because they are just not true ..... yup must be a wind up !!
  4. OK im done here , lived in yorkshire for 18 years and it is a beautiful county , also lived in cornwall and london. Yes I did travel . Most people here do exactly the same only there are few decent pubs where you can actually take your family. Few people ( on a regular baisis) go to the beach with a bottle of win and fish and chips ..... come on you are painting an unrealistic picture. I think Australia is a great place for some but please tell it like it is ....
  5. I didnt come here voluntarily and life has a way of throwing you curve balls , Im not miserable but I am going to get a sign for my car thats says "Before you say to me If you dont like it go back home - trust me if I could I would" I put in a massive ammount of effort I have two children born here and so I cannot put all these feelings onto them. But for me to say this is home would be a lie , its sad very sad .
  6. The southern highlands is great and you are right it is very green but it does not compare to part of cornwall or yorkshire COME ON GET REAL that really is a silly statement !!!!
  7. Oh come on , diversity compared to what ..... I am comparing this to Europe ... diversity really !!!! are you talking deserts and rainforests. It is not everywhere ..... So I finish by saying I do love Australia and maybe I am having a bad night ill give you that BUT dont let people come here thinking it is all beaches and kangaroos and lush green fields cause its not. One funny thing about Aus is that they will make a tourist attraction out of a pile of rocks , dont know why I added that just popped into my head. If you are coming then come and if you love it great lets swap houses !!
  8. It has nothing to do with been homesick , there are plenty of things I love about australia, I love sydney , I love the waeather in spring and autumn , I love the bush and find it very peaceful ... I will clarify my statment further then In comparison to the Uk Australia is not full of "lush greenery"
  9. I guess I have just had enough of sweeping statements made about the UK ... honestly hand on heart I have never seen "lush" greenery here ??
  10. Yes I htink I have heard of NZ and Asia but they are hardly a drive away or a half hour plane trip costing 20quid. It is very hard to just get up and go somwhere out of Australia say for a few days... With all that Europe has to offer it doesnot compare. We are very isolated here which has its good and bad points. Compared with UK/Europe Australia by its very nature is a dry continent and at the moment we are lucky to have had enough rain to , as you say have some greenery .... I am not calling everyone a liar but there is a lot of "wishful" lol thinking going on - In my opinion. My post comes from genuine concern for people who are making a massive decision. This country is home to some and not to others , I just dont like it when people feel they have to justify there time here by putting down the UK I am passionate about where I come from if that makes me odd then odd I am ...
  11. I have lived here 27 years and I promise you there is no grren grass over here its mainly brown and dry. I like Australia so Im not a hater BUTI promise you most of what has been said on this thread is not true , PLEASE PLEASE move here with care I know its natural to want better but with all its faults ( and Ive been back many many times for hols and extended periods ) I would move back to UK in a heartbeat and will when I can.... Just think about it its a long long way from anyone and anything .....
  12. this summer we had rain on 65% of days ummm ?????
  13. IB ????? thanky ou fora ll your help it is appreciated xx
  14. [h=2]I have 2 children one in year 8 and one in year 7. Can anyone tell me if we were to take them back to the UK and they had not completed their schooling ( maybe with a year or two to go ) can you complete your HSC overseas by correspondence if they wanted to or would they have to go to a UK school. Just checking out some options.... Has anyone else taken their kids back when they have nearly finished their education and what effect did this have, any advice appreciated, thank you! What other options are there and do people know who I can contact - Thank you Wishful [/h]
  15. I agree with you pommy oz , In my case the father does as little as possible . pays as little as possible but then says he could not bear to be seperated from his precious children.... If he was honest the only reason he fights so hard to keep us here is to spite me ..... I agree it is all about the kids but SOMETIMES it is best that the parent the child lives with is in a good mental place ...here I honestly believe that the courts favour the father most times , the pendulum has swung so far back the other way......SO be very careful if you are coming here with kids !!! x
  16. I am here with two children who have an aussie father. They are 10 and 12...The fact is that anti depressants dont always help situational depression which is what it sounds like you have and what I get. One day I hope to be home but for mow I am here.... Your children WILL cope. My adivce for what its worth is go home.I have now been here 23 yeasr and yes the pain does dull...but if you dont have to go through life with a constant dull pain then dont do it !!!!
  17. This is why get it sorted before you come here.....both do up an agreement and sign it then just file it !!
