  3. Ive flown loads of times with them they are a good airline , with excellent service ,i would fly with them before i would choose qantas or british , my dads done the australia to uk route 3 times with them , ive traveled all through asia with them and hubby has flown to the usa twice on malaysian air
  4. proberly not house opposite me went on the market a short while ago kept neat but no renovations done as it was when it was built 20 odd years ago sold well over the asking price and they had four offers on the first weekend , i was looking to buy a place for my daughter about 7 months ago and they were starting to move then , she decided she wanted to go to the uk to live and work for a while , so i didnt bother , i thought it was the first time home bracket that was moving , but it seems to be the higher priced housing as well
  5. Yep just had a look , they have all gone up in value so much , and most are under offer , i didnt realise the market was moving as quick as it seems to be have you had a look around currambine ? there are some lovely houses well located to services in good school catchment areas on decent sized blocks
  6. I thought you got free stamp duty on first time home buyers up to 500k then a reducable [ is that a word ??] lol stamp duty being first home buyers , i think there was another grant available that not a lot claim as its hardly known about , [ good way to make it work !!] some thing that the estate agent claims back for you , ill have to check it out . Edgewater is in a nice little pocket , some lovely views , although getting on to oceanreef rd is a nightmare early mornings and 4.30pm onwards
  7. I think what you offer depends on the house, you get a feel if its over priced or not , the dearer the house is the more you can some times move on the price , will you get the first home buyers grant ? The average settlement when ive bought or sold has been six weeks , but you can put it into your offer if you want a quick settlement or long one ,a friend of mine did a five month settlememt , long i know but it worked out well for both parties

  11. my daughter wants to go to the uk to have a look around and maybe work for a while [ shes 23 ] does she apply for a british passport through me [ british born ] or does she have to get a certain visa , for citizen through decent ? shes born here and my hubby is australian , has any one got any idea of the process ? thanks Heyllene
  12. when my hubby worked in north ryde we stayed for a short time in north strathfield , and then later in west concord [ they went to a nice little primary school there ,
  13. i claim my tools for work [ they tried to depreciate them but as i told them i buy clippers and scissors at least once a year so i claim them out right , magazine subscriptions , milage [ as i have to do the banking ] washing of clothes , work related courses , for my husband i claim private insurance 30% back magazine subscriptions , 75% of our internet bills , computer and such equipment , travel when he is going directly to visit clients , laundry, safety boots , member ships to do with work , next year im thinking of going to the uk ill do a hair cutting course while over there and ill claim my air fare and accomadation while at the course to offset against my tax
  14. i loved the thunder storms in singapore , but its never cold except when you go into aircon lol its very humid , theres plenty to do at sentosa , east coast have a lot of sea food restraunts , and you have to pop into orchard rd to to takishamaya a big japanese dept store and you can see all the lois vuitton and channel etc its an eye opener to how much money is out there !!. clarke quay is also nice loads of nice family friendly places to eat , i always found boat quay more for adults , china town is intresting i used to get a taxi to drop me off at temple street and walk around , little india is also good but can get very busy and crowded so dont know how you will go with a small child
  15. there doing eco funerals a lot more in perth they put you in a cardboard coffin and bury you in the standing position , you dont know where your loved one is buried just the vicinity and there are no markers , which is in a park for every one to enjoy and they charge you a high margin for the words enviromental funeral, at the same time the land over looking the parks becomes a premium for the views , i think its a total rip off my self , you would be better being cremeted and spreading the ashes in the ocean at least you can go and sit by any ocean any where in the world and think of your loved one . i buried my mother in pinneroo , its lovely and peaceful there beautiful park lands small plaques [ i hate karrakatta and its huge stone and marble memorials , i feel even in death things are not even and you have the mine is bigger than your thing going on ], we will all be buried or cremated and our ashes laid to rest there
  16. i buy mine from beaumaris iga , or woolies at currembine
  17. i had a designer come out from wangara they included every screw , and every nail as far as a i could see , i was looking for some different kind of storage ideas and they just kept asking me what i wanted [ what i wanted was to know what was available and if i knew what i wanted i wouldnt have needed her input , i think that cost me $150 for them to come out , and i learnt they were not the company i wanted to go with , i ended up going with designer kitchen in wangara close to holly wood kitchens they were very patient with me , as i worked out what i needed , i think the kitchen worked out about $42,000 plus demolition of the original kitchen , plus appliances , plus electrical, plus splash backs and plumbing , it must be six ago now, another alternative is to take your plans/ measurements to mcmahons auctioneers i wangara they do fitted kitchens with granite tops at a really good price the only thing is the kitchen doors are in limited colours
  18. the one good thing about buying established is that you just move in , where as building you have to pay your rent and part mortgage payments which can be a killer , when my daughter built a house in butler we went right through the plans we took the wall and door out of the ensuite bathroom and gained some money back , every plug point we changed to doubles and triples where needed as this all costs to put right later , where she wanted french doors we got the builder to put in the frame and we added the doors our selves later , every change you made after the initial consult was about three hundred dollars per change , so you need to check your wants and needs and get it right first time or it becomes costly. i also suppose it depends on how handy your are if your buying a house to renovate at a later date , as using trades men for every thing is expensive , also remember that a builder allocates so much money towards site costs and if it goes above their allowance you pay the difference , i knew some one who built in the hills and their site costs were twice the amount allowed so they had to come up with a lot of extra money as there was so much clay on the block i think if i was building a new build i would look for a block near services such as trains , freeway access etc butler is connecting to the train line soon i think , and they have the new estate catalina being advertised , i suppose those things matter depending on where you work . all the best with your decision xx
  19. i moved here thirty years ago [ perth ] and i know lots of other people who emigrated and are still here , ive also met a fair few ping pongs , must cost them a fortune !!!years ago you didnt have computer sites like this [ dont think we had personal computers to be honest lol. although these sites can be help ful for new immigrants i wonder if your a tad unsettled whether some people on certain sites can fuel you emotionally into feeling even more unsettled ?? not maybe intentionally [ and there will be times you go down missing family [ although skype now exists , the cost of tickets for return holidays ,[ again i think the tickets seem more affordable than they were 25 years ago. christmas is a time you can get unsettled , after the novelty of a hot xmas wears off , it took me years to realise that my kids were not missing a cold xmas to them this was normal and what they love a cold xmas was a novelty but they much prefer a normal hot xmas !!lol perth may be the place to be for you ,, or not who knows you will have fences to jump and just because you stumble occasionally dosnt mean you cant get up and dust your self off its definatly not england with sunshine !!!and if you can remember that you will accept it better oh and the other thing the sense of humour is a bit off , drives me batty lol xxx
  20. i would think even a small double storey would be at least a year from the time they lay the pad , the best thing would be to google the builders your intrested in and see what people have to say about them as there are always sites on google about problems people have with builders , 320 is a small block but there are more and more of them being sub divided into this size , it just requires more thought on the type , and placement of the house on the block , why not go and visit some builders with the plans of the block and see what alternatives and ideas they suggest this may give you a clue to which builder is right for you
  21. there were a few fish and chip shops in abany i just chose the wrong one i hate herring and also being pregnant at the time ,,,, mind you it was over twenty years ago lol i need to let the memory go , although the connolly experience is recent
  22. butler is a nice enough suburb my daughter built up there my only gripe with it is in the mornings on marmion the traffic @#$%^.also look in carramar , tapping , ashby, sinagra , they are off wanneroo rd and it would only take a short time to get to joondalup
  23. i ring beaumaris fish and chips shop up place my order plus mushy peas and pick them up ten mins later except if i order on a friday in which case its twenty mins , the worst fish and chips ive ever had here was in albany many years ago they used herring as the fish , and connolly they are awful
  24. i remember them renaming it pepperwood to try and lift the stigma it didnt work at the time , but there are nice areas of lockridge very quiet by a couple of parks i would consider mirrabooka far worse than lockridge ever was
  25. is that right lol thought id posted more recently than that , yes im in perth , moir is my married name and hubby is an aussie , so i dont know tha above mentioned xxx
