You do have to declare it in Australia as overseas income - we had to do this and our tax return was done by a tax accountant

You should still declare the rent you receive as an income doesnt matter if you make a profit or not. As someone has already said you will have to register as a non resident landlord and do a UK Tax return every year as well as declaring on your Aus tax return

As already advised it is genuine. I have emailed them previously and the girl I spoke to today said they will not email you back as it could be anyone sending the email. They email you to the email address they have on file for you and ask you to call so they know you are the genuine person. You will not find this email address i dont think because usually it is a central email address for contacting the department that they have on websites, same as a lot of other companies etc.

Just to let you know - your email is genuine, I got one as well and I called. After 6 months they do a review if you are out of the country. We are going back in July, so they just wanted to update our file and we can sort payments out when we do our tax return.

If you are talking about smart meters dont think it will, you will still need to get your A grade licence. There have been a few accidents with unqualified people fitting these meters so I think they are quite strict.

And you should see the state of some of them too! If the Landlords feel justified in charging this amount they should at least keep their properties decorated and up to a decent standard not like something out of When the boat comes in!!

Is he still on the tools or is he office based. I think for a skilled visa you need to be working in the trade you are applying in at the time of application to actually get your visa and you can do what you want when you are here.

Next has definately gone down in quality over the years. Years ago that used to be the place we all bought our smart work clothes and they lasted forever, now its full of cheaper t shirts and stuff you can get anywhere. Some stuff is still good but definately gone downhill.

No it isnt any of my business but am entitled to post my opinion if you decide to post a load of old fanny on an internet forum about keeping your family together and stuff, when the real reason is to get something for free, you have just said you might have stayed if you got free education in Australia - so would your family have too - will they follow wherever you get free education!

So really the reason your coming back is to take advantage of the Scottish system, none of this keeping your family together!

They are coming back the way! it doesnt matter what visa have to live in Aus.

They are not on any visa - are returning to the UK from living in Australia

Cant you add baby to your application now before visa granted, then you wont have to apply for a seperate child visa.

It depends where you are looking. People are not exaggerating especially about Perth - it is a nightmare. Twice we found rentals and were moved in within a week in West Suburbs of Melbourne, one of them the Estate Agent even gave us they keys to go look ourselves(was a new build) but it definately is not always this easy - you were lucky!
