  1. Hi we did it the other way - Melbourne to Perth cost just over $5000 to ship a 20ft container, we packed all the small stuff into boxes and they wrapped the big furniture. We used Crown, all good.
  2. If they are that great what is there name so I can check them out. If all is as you say there is no harm in making their name public, or PM me their name. Are you on a commission if anyone signs up? Your last post sound like its been written by a recruitment person by the way. And as already pointed out carpenters in the majority of states do not need licences and I know for a fact that you cannot do electrical training this way.
  3. Ass already advised this so called training is no good but if you want to waste your money it's up to you
  4. If it is anything to do with an unrecognised training organisation like Down Under Tradies, it is definitely a waste of money and any qualification they give you is not worth the paper it is written on, you will still need to do the training required for your trade when you get to Australia. Any training to gain a licence needs to be done via an RTO, who cannot issue licences anyway. You still also need to apply to the Licencing Board in whatever state you are going to. Also I don't know why anyone cant get a job as a carpenter without a licence as you will see 90% of the states do not require one.
  5. Be a total waste of money for most people!!! New South Wales Licensing is compulsory for unsupervised residential trade work. Licensing is not required for commercial or residential trade work. Victoria There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for the occupation of Carpenter in Victoria. Queensland A licence is required when an individual or company wants to carry out, undertake to carry out or supervise building work valued over $3,300 (including labour and materials) in Queensland. South Australia There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for the occupation of Carpenter in South Australia. Western Australia There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for the occupation of Carpenter in Western Australia. Tasmania There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for the occupation of Carpenter in Tasmania. Northern Territory Registration is compulsory in order to carry out residential building work over the value of $12,000. Australian Capital Territory There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for the occupation of Carpenter in the ACT.
  6. That's got to be a good idea. There is so many people commuting long distances for work. Its bound to be cheaper for big business to have offices further out as well, I don't know why they all need to be in the CDB, say some of the big insurance companies could have their call centres further out.
  7. That's good that you can maybe apply for PR by yourself but a visa can take months, what will you do meantime, can you stay on bridging visa or will you have to go home and return?
  8. Have you done anything about looking for a new employer yet? That would have been my first priority before handing in my notice. A new sponsor is bound to contact your employer for a reference before taking over sponsorship, it will definitely not look good if you are in the middle of a tribunal. After you had a new job and your visa was safe with the new sponsor then I would have quit and done the tribunal bit if you insist on going that way. Yes its not right to be treated badly by an employer but I think you have maybe jumped the gun a bit handing in your notice before sorting out an alternative. 90 days isn't that long - a week away already, hope you sort things out. Also they are not being bullies by informing DIAC of your resignation, I think they have to do that.
  9. I think you will find it very hard to find a sponsor as an electrician. Companies now have to prove they have advertised locally first and there will be so many tradies already looking for a job.
  10. Stacey - you have got a dirty mind!
  11. I have never heard that either, most of the kids have backpacks and that's what they call them or just simply bags
  12. does it matter about 24hr shopping? how often did you go shopping at 3am? Kmart is open 24 hrs in Melbourne, supermarkets don't charge for bags here except Aldi, and not all shops are shut on holidays usually just the small independent ones,
  13. Things have changed so much since my OH got his licence so I cant really help with what to do, but as you already have a visa I don't think you need to go through vettassess, they assess for migration purposes not licencing. You will still need an ARTC. That used to be almost the same as applying to the TRA (before vettassess) but with even more information.
  14. As I already tried to tell him he will have to go through the same application for PR as everyone else.
  15. I don't know where you got that information from but it is sooo wrong! You will not get a PR visa just because you have an ARTC, you will have to go throught the same process as everyone else.
  16. It does say (including any conviction which is now removed from official records) so why did you assume you didn't have to? I don't think a shoplifting charge would stop your visa but you might have some explaining to do
  17. Yes its hard to get into. There is a saying for the type of people that work on these mines and you need to be part of it or them to stay in the game. There called ................"Purple Circle" You have to like sucking c*ck alot and generally be the worst electrician to walk the outback. Its pathetic. Moneys good but you really have to bite your tongue. The working away is crap and the heat in the pilbura is evil So is that how you got your job then?
  18. Hiya, it is quite hard getting a permanent job until you get your licence. But personally it hasnt been that bad for us. My OH got a job as a TA installing Air conditioning without his licence and then building Switchboards in a workshop, so its not all doom and gloom. People only seem to put bad experiences on here.
  19. I do apologise i got it wrong, when my OH did it Electricians were assessed by TRA and you still had to get an ARTC and I thought it was the same. I will know to keep my mouth shut in future.
  20. Vetassess is only for visa purposes. Once you get here you will still need an ARTC to apply for a licence.
  21. You can work in more places in Australia than Perth! Not all are as expensive.
  22. That will still only get your your ARTC. You will still have to apply for a licence in whichever state you are going to.
  23. This is not correct! You still cannot work state to state with one licence. Each state still has their own licence. It will be changing next year to one Australia wide licence - (so they say, but it was supposed to happen this year)
  24. Dont be ridiculous grow up I mentioned somewhere to stay because you said friends would put you up till you got to the job, nothing about putting you up in between swings, having experience of having to find somewhere to live I was only advising you of the position in Perth. It doesnt matter what they call it now, you will still need an ARTC for any kind of licence. Yes you are an electrician, a UK electrician, I said nothing about you not deserving the going rate but am sure the other electricians who have had to pay through the nose to be licenced wouldnt be too impressed. Also with an attitude like yours you probably wont last long on a mine site anyway!
  25. Do you have your ARTC. I dont think Energy Safe would give you even a supervised licence without this. Vetassess only assess you for visa purposes. Do you have somewhere to live on your week off? hotels are so expensive and some of the hostels are the pits! Just letting you know. I would check exactly what job you are going out to. Why would they employ an unlicenced spark when there are so many licenced sparks here already that could start tomorrow. Also, if they are I wouldnt let other electricians know you are unlicenced if you are getting the same rate as them.
