WIandVAinWA
Hi - yes make a portfolio to go with your CV. Normally I would not recommend including a photo unless asked to do so. The only other exception to this would be for senior executive roles however that is a different type of CV. Good luck. Ok, thanks a lot by

Freckleface
Hi do you have anything on CVs for senior executive roles, how do they differ? Looking at a senior/director level post in communications/marketing/PR industry The advice and template provided at the beginning of the thread would be suitable for a senior/director level role. Just make sure you weave strategy and influencing skills into your examples even if they are not specifically mentioned and really focus on tangible achievements, especially ones that were innovative. Good luck with your application (and hopefully your interview).

Guest JSnowball92
Hi, Many thanks for this information - i am certainly finding it very useful! One question i have - Do you thinka section "About Me" is something that could be included? A simple paragraph that outlines your personaility, qualities, a sales pitch as such of the type of person you are? (in a suitable written style of course). This is something i normally include in my CV, but if recruitors don't believe it is necessary i will opt to remove it! James

James Hi James To answer your question - no, do not include an 'About Me' section. No one will read it and it will lower the tone of your CV regardless of how well written it is. To be frank it would also cause me to question your judgement. Apart from the fact that you are not going to include anything that isn't positive it would take up valuable space that would be better spent on identifying the capabilities you have for the role you are applying for. Good luck in your search.
DaveS
I don't suppose anybody would like to comment on my CV? I just started so it will probably keep changing after I post this. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_HmLryP6Ia_lRyGi_PVxeh8YtZ78dle9MW_5GJawOvw/edit

However, if you only wanted to hear good things about it stop reading this post now. OK if you are still reading - my opinion is that your CV is not competitive (at all). Read the information I provided at the beginning of the thread and apply it to your CV. Make sure you delete everything in the personal section - yes, everything. You list achievements which is good but your first achievement talks about making a tidy workspace. Is that really the most impressive thing you want a prospective employer to know about you? :nah:
TheGrahams
Hey freckleface, thanks so much for this. I was about to do a google search for aussie cv's, but thought it may cause my head to implode! t Then I thought I would post the question on here, and there is no need to, awesome, thanks again. DaveS
Hi Freckleface, Thanks for the comments. No worries at all about being honest I actually added in the personal section after reading advice in and around this thread! I thought this was expected in Australia - it certainly is not in the UK. On the making office space tidy being a valid achievement - it is but perhaps I haven't explained it correctly. Someone working within the field would understand the scope/scale of this undertaking. Thanks for pointing it out though I might reword it. Cheers, Dave Hi Dave I am assuming you have asked for feedback because you really want it. Regards, I don't know anyone who will help you before you get to Australia. However when you get here go and see M&T Resources. They have offices in most of the capitals and specialise in IT recruitment (contracts and permanent roles). They will help you with your CV and writing applications. Good luck. Guest nimhug
Hi freckleface, Thanks very much for this information and taking the time to assist! One quick observation - have I interpreted this correctly? The 'Overview of role' should be in the present tense and the 'Selected Achievements' should be in the past tense? I have always had my CV consistently in the past tense, including role overviews. However, from your OP and the template it looks like I should change the overview to be present tense? Thanks! Current role in present tense and previous role overviews in past tense. I wrote it all really quickly late one night so obviously didn't pay enough attention to the tense - lucky I wasn't applying for a job  Thanks for pointing it out.
