So you have decided to proceed as before? It's a shame, maybe if this weather would improve you would have felt more settled lol. Good luck with everything.

Removals you still have the larger companies that can do either way, ie Crown, PSS, etc.

Hi Kate, yes we are. Thought long and hard about the decision and we are going home. As we are state sponsored we have to live in Vic for 2 years so cannot move other states. Daughters can't settle here, think if they were younger it might have been different. I have contacted OSS and got reply today about a consultant coming out to give us a free quote.

All the very best to you for your return!

We used grace who team up with Doree Bonner in the uk, No complaints with either company, We received our shipping back almost two weeks ago, Happy to report that nothing was lost or damaged, Make sure you get a few quotes, simple reason we came out with a 20ft container with room to spare, so we knew the same size would be fine, However a couple of companies we had out told us we would need a 40ft at the very least lol, We did return with a 20ft, and still had some space  so just beware,

Hey the dougans, we too arrived on 3rd Aug to hellish weather here and to tell the truth im not that impressed with it so far and were into November. I know the weather back in Scotland is freezing and wet but i expected it to be much better here. And no we cant move states causes we have a state sponsored visa so have to live in Vic for 2 years. I haven't been homesick or people sick but this place just aint for us. Kids hate it here and think its boring, all there is to do is sight see and bbqs which dosn't impress them. They want to be out doing things with friends not socialising with their parents. I heard people only go out and do stuff in summer so i take it the rest of the time people just sit indoors! Well i prefer back home even if it is cold and wet and more of a social life back home too. I don't regret moving here as we needed to do it and see what it was like but it aint for us. Work life for my OH is worse here than back home. Daughter hates the school here and the kids, she thinks there boring and dont go out after school. Its for families with young kids here. Anyway how have you found it?

Hi Gillian

Not sure what your kids are in to but I wish mine thought there was nothing to do, we are a constant taxi service, for all their activities and that's all year round.

The weather has been cold but when you compare it to the UK it's still better and when summer comes everyone then complains it's too hot, lol.

I'm not sure which school your children go to in Berwick, the only one I have heard problems about is Kambrya. Why not have a summer here then think again because even the ones who love it here are currently fed up with the weather, it has definitely been the worst since we have been here, usually Spring brings lovely blue skies and 25 degrees the same for Autumn.

Can you get out of your contract with Woods as they paid for you to come over didn't they?

Good luck hun whatever you decide.

Kate

Hi Gillian,

It's the other Gillian here - I am currently back in Perth enjoying a 4 week break and happy to say that I LOVE IT.

I have just slipped back into the old routine and am having a ball - the only problem is that my OH is adamant that he is not moving back here.

I suppose all of you are in agreement to move back which helps.

It has been raining here but the weather is quite mild - just went to the bonfire on the South Inch last night - it was packed to the rafters !!!

Hoping that all goes well for you

Yeah we all want to go back, Melbourne ain't for us, we find it boring and had a better social life back home. Kids were much happier at home as here there stuck in al the time. Cant wait lol even though we'll be going back to winter we dont care! you get fed up of going to BBQs and sight seeing. Hope you had a browse in the new Primark!

Hi Proview, as we've never been Oz and said we would give it 2 years to decide but honestly don't think we could stand staying here that long. I don't hate it here it is just okay and actually prefer back home as we have friends and family, here we have just got each other but constantly being around each other 24/7 gets a bit much! we had a better social life at home and here there is 1 pub in Berwick. Our daughters hate it here, the youngest prefers the kids and school back home. They go to school and no one goes out in evenings or weekends and shes bored here. My eldest whos 18 dosn't like the vastness of the place, she thinks they are boring and don't know how to enjoy yourself, where back home she had a a better time. I feel all there is here is go sight seeing and going to BBQs where after a while gets a bit boring. The weather here has not impressed us much either. I know Scotland is cold but i cant wait to go home. I know we had to see what it was like here but Melbourne aint for us and its for people with young families. Our teenage kids want their friends not to hang about with their parents 24/7.

Am sure I have seen it written on here many times that this a moral, rather than legal obligation. It seems that plenty of folk never take up residence in the state that sponsors them.
