176 SS non-csl - where are you now?

Hello all.

No been on for a while as getting on with things due to the fence sitting currently in motion [and for 2+ years ] thanks to Chris Evans and his merry men.

So - I`ve caught up a little and good to see were all still positive and helping each other out. Catching up on the new SOL, which is due out `soon`. Am i right in thinking that adjustments from Cat5 may be shuffled into a Cat2?

Is this the expected list, or something like? Australia Immigration | Australia Visas | Australian Skilled Migration Occupations List

I`m an Architectural Technician with QLD SS and currently awaiting a CO [176], hence the fence sitting on the Cat5. Not sure what the script is with the awaited new SOL and the knock on effect for people like myself? Sorry if i`m not up to speed. Just been at arms length due to the emotional strings attached.

Thank you!

Wish I knew about VIC dare not try them again - they really don't seem to take questions like that very well!

I will second that VM, they seem to get annoyed," shame on them" I say, it's our life's on hold not theirs, we have paid good money an have a right to find out what is going on.

Goodluck to everyone when ever something happens.

Hi Danny&Em the jist of it is, if your application is already in, then the new SOL means nothing to you (it's just nice to see your on a list somewhere), as for Cat5's in Cat2, that is all dependent on if you are on your state SMP list, which none are yet out.

If you are on the list you are Cat2, if you are not... sorry then the fence might be home for a while longer... goodluck hope you are on your state SMP, hope this helps.

Hi proview, I hope ur right re the trades but I reckon will just be a small list of specialised jobs, please let me be wrong but sooooooo depressed today can't face to go sainsburys!!! Was kidding myself we would all cat 2 next week and visas would be granted in next few months and in Oz by Xmas at the latest!! I just got bad feeling it gona be a continuous wait and our time is running out, daughter left college last year and next one is 18 in March, can't bare the thought of being stuck here forever! We have been in rented for months now but then again its our stupid faults for being optimistic! Sorry for the depressing comments

Hang in there!!.... we feel your pain and fustration but we have to think that we will get there in the end and will all be worth while, if it was easy to get in then I probably think it wouldn't be the place we all want to head too, Although they probably won't have anything by the 1st July I am sure by August they will have got themselves in order just wish they'd hurry up and keep to a deadline for once just so we can all plan our lives a little better

Good Things come to those who wait..... well lets hope anyway x

Hi Danny, good to see you back in the forum again. Ours is also Architectural Associate. Under the new SOL (Schedule 4 - State Sponsor List), our skill is known as Architectural Draftsperson. Good to see that it is still on the list.

Everyone here is eagerly awaiting the announcement of the SMP which seems to be moving further away from us as we approaches it! & its 1st July tmr!!!

Maybe we should take another 2 months break and then come back & check for the SMP again.... then again, who can do that when our lives hinge on the SMP?!?!?!

VIC have also announced not until August at the earliest.

Thanks for the count down Lesley (are you going to count up as well?!) - looks like noone is ready - well it will be interesting to see if they continue to process current Cat 5 (and other) visas while the SMPs continue to be developed?

I see Alan Collett has placed a post saying that the feeling he gets from speaking with people is that those with SS currently are likely to have to reapply to get onto the SMP list.

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/78424-thread-agents-only-re-new-gsm-changes-10.html#post796183

Hopefully some of the states will do that automatically - however I doubt it as I get the impression that e.g. Victoria don't actually know when you obtain your visa from DIAC (we have already been asked whether we have arrived in Victoria yet).

I can't believe they would make us reapply to go on SMP, the idea seems ridiculus, we have all supplied the proof of funds, all the gumph invloved to prove how much we know about that particular state etc so they know why we want to live there so why would we have to do all again???!!! Our SS is with SA too and eagerly waiting for some firm news

Hi Jill,

We too are sponsored with SA. I spoke with our agent a couple of weeks ago after they had had a meeting - she informed me that SA were saying it would probably be nearer or sometime in August until they anticipated their SMP's would be ready. No further news I'm afraid and it wasn't very informative but that was all she had for me!!

Sorry can't be anymore helpful for you.I have emailed SA myself with questions about SMP's and I will let all know if I get any kind of reply.

With regards to reapplying for SMP'S - My thoughts are maybe those of us that have SS and whose occupation is on the SMP will perhaps only need to reapply in the form of perhaps a couple of forms to fill in, much like when we swapped from 175 to 176?? And hopefully our agents would do that for us anyway (at a cost no doubt!!!) The problem is though, as has been mentioned before, brand new applicants (at no fault of their own) will be processed just as quick if not quicker!! Perhaps the delay may be a blessing in disguise and with the start of the new application year they will start processing existing applications.

Otherwise we'll all go mad!!!:arghh:

Lots of luck to all xxx

Rose.

Thanks Rose, would love to hear if you get a reply from SA, it seems that Tasmania and SA are the only states not to have revised dates yet!!!!!

I hope we are still processed fairly with regards to new applicants (although like you say this is not their fault) but I am just hoping we dont get pushed down and down the processing priorities only to be told in a years time that they are going to cap and cease our application!!!

Live in hope I suppose :goofy:

Thanks again

I hope we -old Style SS 176 - don't have to reapply for SMP too! Ideally, its auto-mapping into the new SMP. However, if the statement from Northern Territory about having to obtain "positive employment prospect" is needed, then we may need to "apply" again to update our States on this requirement. Hopefully, it is a separate application that is express lane from the new applicant as the State has already assessed us earlier and agreed to sponsor us. Hope its just a "submission of new documents to convert old style SS to SMP... In short, i hope that:

New applicant = New SMP application

Exisiting SS holder = EITHER

1) Conversion to new SMP by submitting additional evidence of positive employment prospect (whatever that is!)

OR

2) Auto-conversion to new SMP without re-application! (Highly preferred!)

If I am not mistaken, a job offer is already a condition that NT has for SS.

Really?!?!?!! I know WA's SS does not require applicant to have job offer. How about other states?

We have SA sponsorship and it's not a requirement to have a job offer. Think that may be NT only??

I wish someone knew what was happening with us 175/176's, there either gonna let us in one day or be honest and just tell us we've got no chance.. It's cost me nearly £10,000 to get to this stage and to be honest the british government wouldn't get away with all these changes etc in such a short space of time.. So let's cut the crap DIAC and give us some straight answers in plain OZZy before all our lives are put on hold for another 3 years..........

Hear hear I totally agree!!! I have been told that the WA SS applicants if on the new SMP will be converted over, however if they want to introduce employer sponsorship as a condition we are well and truly nacked!!! Being Self employed for 23 years, my OH certainly does not want to work for anyone now. If this was the case we would have looked at employer sponsorship ages ago instead!!!!

Make a decision and stick to it I say!!!:arghh:
