Hi

Did anyone attend the 2006 shows ? There is one in Edinburgh in February - Is it worth the effort of going all that way, or possibly a waste of time as I can find most of the info on line ?

Many Thanks

Tracy & Jason

The first real research we did was a show back in 2004, we found out one thing we needed to know (needed to work fulltime min 20hrs per week to qualify)

the show is full of migration agents who will answer your questions, but you need to ask the right ones. They will do a basic assement to see if you qualify for free, but at the end of the day they want your money. the show was busy with many people not doing any skills assement before hand finding out they did not qualify.

It was a first step in the right direction so go it will help a little, we used an agent but not an uk based one. We used an oz agent they tend to be cheaper.

we used jacqui ure at open door migration based in Perth.

We went to the show at Sandown last March. It was helpful talking to people who offered different services for migrants, especially migration agents. Based on the friendly welcome, the time they took to talk to us and the advice they gave, we chose our agent 'The Emigration Group' there. We also went to one of the seminars which answered a lot of our what if and how do we questions.

We know this kind of thing isn't for everyone but we found it really helpful!

There was one in Glasgow last year which was well worth attending. Apart from Agents, there were also representatives from the various States of Australia, who answered lots of questions about what was on offer in their part of the country, including the likelihood of sponsorship if required. There were also representatives from various sectors such as Finance, Currency, Removals, Banks, Recruitment, Relocation, etc, etc - all the things that will matter once you get your visa. The one in Edinburgh is not likely to be as busy as the ones in London, so probably worth the trip. Why not make a weekend of it?
