Metalgoat83 Posted February 17, 2021 Share Posted February 17, 2021 dear all on Pomsinoz I have been in the industry of digital forensics or 10 years now... all based in law enforcement here in the uk. I have looked through all the anzco codes and nothing really seems to fit. My job description does not fit exactly within the IT sector, there is no assessment for investigation, i am not a police officer and I'm not network/cyber security either... I'm somewhere between all of these. Does anyone know of anyone who has had been granted a visa through digital forensics or can anyone provide any help at all? Have you searched ANZSCO 253915? It might pay you to consult a registered migration agent for an assessment. Here's the ANZSCO occupation page for science technicians which may be relevant: https://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/1220.0~2013,+Version+1.3~Chapter~UNIT+GROUP+3114+Science+Technicians If you're looking at employer sponsorship or skilled migration, the occupation will determine what options are available to you. It sounds like you're in the UK so, of course, our border restrictions are making things very difficult for people outside Australia to migrate here - the Department needs to be convinced why a travel exemption should be granted and furthermore, how their skillset is critical. As I say, it's a little to drill down on suitable occupations without having more information. I'd be interested to hear what other occupations are been floated. Good luck! I understand that I need to find an ANZSCO description that fits my job role, but as my original posts states, I cannot find one that fits as I am in between a few of them. Have you searched ANZSCO 253915? Yes. This code is regarding pathology. This a medical profession where your job would be to cut up dead people and weigh their organs. You are a registered migration agent (according to signature), I have told you I am in digital forensics and you have suggested an ANZSCO code around medics and pathology!? This is why I am not paying an agent as my job role and duties does not 'Clearly' fit a particular ANZCO code that I am aware of and no one has heard of 'digital forensics'. I am trying to find a board who will asses my skills and THEN pay for an agent to move things forward for me, however there is no point if I cant find a skills assessment board who will review my skillset or at least that's my understanding of the process? If that's the case, the requirement will be stated on the job ad. If that's not stated as a condition, then there is nothing to prevent you applying for jobs. If a company is keen to hire you, then they apply for a visa on your behalf - and it will be up to them to work out the thorny problem of how to classify you. That's called an employer-sponsored visa and the most likely would be a 482 (which is only a temporary, 2 to 4 year contract), but it would be a foot in the door into the industry. I'm sure you're not, but it is a specialised field and your post here is visible to only a small number of people and an even smaller number of agents. Question - have you had a full, paid consultation with a reputable migration agent, or have you just made enquiries? If you're just asking a question, the best reply you wil ever get is, "that's not on the list, we'll need to analyse your qualifications and duties to work out what might fit". They might throw in an ANZSO code but it will just be a guess. Let's face it, they're not going to do the analysis unless they get paid for it. Would you? rammygirl Posted February 21, 2021 Share Posted February 21, 2021 The thing to note is you need to “fit” an occupation that allows a visa. Don’t get tied up with the job titles. If your qualifications and experience apply to a cyber security job and you can pass the assessment then apply under that code. For independent skilled visas there is no restriction on what job you do when you get PR.
