calNgary
Thank you so much for sharing this and welcome to Brisbane. You are very entertaining to watch so please keep them coming... We made the trip quite a while ago now with a just turned 3 yr old and 8 yr old so i do feel for you and totally understand the trying to tire them out and walking the plane aisles. I am sorry but you did make me chuckle a bit (at your expense) and kudos to you for putting up with that stupid plastic mask, it would have driven me insane. I believe they struggle to get teachers at the schools around here where i am, so if you dont mind not living at the beach, get your resumes sent off to them.. Feel free to PM me for names of schools around here. (you will need to make a few posts before the PM system will allow you to message) Cal x

I've managed to find a job now but thanks for the offer. I don't mind the chuckle at our expense. As you know the process is difficult enough, so we try to make it a humorous as possible!!

thatjohnstonlife
No regrets so far. We've both found jobs and have our rental home for now. We've also just had an offer accepted on another house to buy so that should all be going ahead in the new year. 3

DukeNinja
Not sure if you've already covered it, but how about health care for immigrants ie Medicare/private health insurance.

Natalie123
Hey Can I ask was it hard to get a mortgage approved in Australia after only just moving over? We are looking at moving end of next year (husband is Australian- I have a visa) and we have a deposit ready for when we want to buy but didn’t know if we would have to be in the country for X amount of months/years to show financial records etc? Thanks Natalie

Thanks Natalie When we first arrived we had sold our house in the UK and wanted to buy we were $40,000 short, we had the money in the UK but couldn’t access it for 2-3 months. So we applied to one of the Big 4 for a mortgage. They knocked us back despite the fact they would have had a large amount of equity in the house if we failed to pay. ‘Things have changed a lot but I know back then if you moved over and had a job in the same career field they would accept this as continuous employment.
