You can go ahead in applying for the Subclass 189 Visa for Australia. Looks good. If not you can apply for the subclass 190 visa.

Do you have 65 points for 189? The chance for invite is very very low. If you have 70 points for 190 the chances are good but it'll depend on the state you applied to.

Hi, 

I've submitted EOI for 189 with 70 points as well, I know people in our same situation have been waiting for few months. As Martina said you might get better chances with 190 depending on the state. 

Does anyone know if there's different chances to get invitation sooner if you're medical instead of critical care nurse or viceversa for example, or all registered nurses have same chances to get invited?

Hi Peimika, 

I *think* chances for invitation actually depend on your ANZSCO code, so different for all types of registered nurses. I'm surgical and was invited within 3 days however, my friend who is NEC waited 4 months for invitation. Others I know with same points but different specialisation have been waiting for invitation since February. 

It would be only logical if they were inviting those who are most needed first.

I was trying to do the maths calculating how long I'd have to wait based on other nurses' experience, but they're all different ANZSCO.

Hello Martina,

No, I have 70 points for 189. I have put EOI for 190 as well for NSW as I stayed there during my Bridging program. I hope I get an invitation when the immigration will take out the invites on 11th of this month.

Also, any idea when the respective states take out there invitations. I'm expecting I will get from NSW seeing my 70+5 points. Fingers crossed.

When did you submit your EOI?

Also, I guess Registered Nurses scoring Points for PR does not go more than 75 unlike occupations like accountants or engineers whose point exceeds 80/85 mark. So, does this mean registered nurses who are having highest point also stand a high chance of receiving an invite than those RN who have low points?

I submitted in June with 65, then I updated last week with 70 when I got the NAATI result. I only submitted for 189 for now, I'll wait few months to see what happens in November, if I can claim more points for not being married.

Yeah, Immigration rules will change in November and i can also get 10 points for being single. But I'm hoping I don't have to wait by then. So keeping my fingers crossed for this month's 189/190 invitations. 
I did my bridging program on visitor visa and came back to my home country as soon as it got completed. So. I'm really hoping to start working in Aus as a RN at the earliest.

Did you get your skill assessment for RN (Medical)?

I have a difficult time deciding which ANZSCO code to use. I am a registered nurse working at a clinic for asthma and allergies, and cannot decide between RN (nec), RN (Medical),  or RN (medical practice). I even asked a few migration agents and they all told me different things. I am really confused and do not want to pick a wrong ANZSCO code.

anybody here with a similar experience? Any recommendations for good migration agencies?

If your major experience is in this clinic for Asthma/Allergies then I think your ANZSCO code will be RN (Medical). Moreover, you can contact ANMAC for this confusion, they might be able to help you out.

It depends on whether you are submitting the EOI for 189 or 190.

Hi there,

It depends on whether you are applying for 489 or 190. Job offer for offshore application.

For onshore application if you submit for 190 then you need to work on your nominated occupation for 6 months and fulfil other requirements. In case 489 you need to work for 6 months in any field but there is some condition also. Please visit Tasmanian website. It's pretty straight forward.

Please don't delay for 489 as the last date is 20th August to submit EOI.

Hi. I’m shortly going to be putting together our expression of interest. My wife is a practice nurse with 9 years experience. So if we go for a 190 visa she will have 85 points. We’re looking to nominate SA as the region we would like to live. Has anybody on here gone through the application without an agent? After a lot of research I’m sure I can do it. 

Also has anybody been granted their visa yet and if so how long did it take to come through?

Hi Jamie, 

A lot of people go through the process without an agent, myself including. As long as there's no issues and your case is not complicated you should be fine, it's pretty straightforward. 

With your wife's points you should be invited soon and the timeline for 190 processing is currently 10-15 months. You can check immi tracker for more info.

Hi Martina. 

Thanks for your response. I’m sure I will go down the route of completing the application myself. It’s just a little scary to think that I’m paying out over £6k for visas that I may not get if I don’t fill the paperwork out correctly. Although I’m pretty sure that once I have an EOI all I have to make sure is I’ve completed the form 80 correctly and we’ve had Medicals and police checks carried out in good time. Is there anything obvious I have missed?

Correct! I believe you'll be fine. Does your wife already have AHPRA registration?

She hasn’t yet. I believe it’s AHPRA that she would go to for the “skills assessment”

we are at the very start of the process so the English test has been done. We then need to send references, ielts score needs to be submitted, degree and transcript, passport photo, passport page and marriage certificate. Once we get the skills assessment go ahead we can then put forward our EOI.

AHPRA is for the Australian nursing registration and ANMAC is for the skill assessment. Unfortunately I can't help with ahpra offshore as my case was different (I got registered while living in Australia). I believe there's a 'registration in principle' and you have to show up in present in Australia for the full registration... Look it up on the forum, someone's done it recently. Keep in mind that anmac takes about 4-6 weeks and ahpra is also lengthy process (and huge pain in the a$$).
