Travel from Queensland to NSW

We are landing at Brisbane on 24th October, then travelling to Coffs Harbour. We have looked at hiring a 7 seater car to get there but many say you cant cross borders. Could anyone help or guide us in the right direction. Bearing in mind there are 5 of us with 5 suitcases. Thank you.

I don't know the ins and outs but you can get a train from Brisbane to Sydney. I assume it has stops on the way. Maybe you could get on that, go over the border and get a car somewhere in NSW?

Bus? There's probably an airport coach that goes down the coast. Or fly - the travel advice Site says fly to Port Macquarie from Brisbane and get a bus /drive up.

What borders?  There should be no problem crossing borders - the problem is that it's a one-way hire.  The smaller hire car places won't have an office in Coffs, so they have no way to get the car back - that's why they won't do it.   You'll need a big company like Thrifty or Avis, and of course they're more expensive.

Why not just fly?
