JJ_Peace
Hihi I'm on a 457 and have a new employer lined up who is also a 457 sponsor. My new employer is applying to nominate me right now. Apparently that will take a few weeks to process (anybody know and more?). I have a one month notice period so I'm thinking that if I resign then the new nomination will be ready by about the time I actually leave. That is my preference, so I don't have to work another month after the nomination approval period. Is there any risk to resigning now, or should I wait until the new nomination is all done? Is the transfer a formality, or could it not happen? Thanks a lot!

JJ_Peace
True, but I have a 457 with 3 years remaining and I can change sponsors
MarshallR
When I did the transfer, it took around 4 months or so which is a little long then first thought My advise, wait till it gets granted before giving any notice in
MaggieMay24
There's no guarantee if or when the transfer will be approved. Best solution is to simply wait for the approval and then resign. It may suck having to work the additional time with your employer but better than finding yourself unemployed without a sponsor.

There is no guarantee that the nomination will be approved, especially now that the process has become much more complex and expensive. gabgab
Hi, I am having the same issues, i just received my 457 visa last week, but i found a new employer, willing to nominate me, will my current employer be informed this is happening? does she need to cease my employment first for the nomination to be approved, or it doesn't matter? i rather not give notice until the nomination is approved and then i can transfer, also what is the time frame at this point for the nomination to be approved? thank you in advance
JJ_Peace
Hi gabgab. To collate what I now think, thanks to the responses above and other research ... No, your current employer is not informed She doesn't need to do anything, it's up to your new employer to get the new nomination I've been told a few weeks for nomination to be transferred, but that might depend on how efficient your new employer is Good luck!
