In most (if not all) States you can only get the Working with Children card after you have actually got a job, AND once you are resident in the State. Don't thin you can get one when you are not a resident. What visa do you have? Edited September 23, 2017 by Nemesis
VERYSTORMY
It would also help you get better advice if you can provide more info: What visa? WHV? What do you teach / secondary / primary? Qualifications?
Notions
Sorry I'm going on a working holiday visa. I teach primary, I have a four year bacehlor of arts degree in Media and English. Also, a PGCE in primary education
niamhmulk
You can't register until you are there because you need an Australian address and to apply in person for the working with children check
Quoll
Honestly? take the year and forget you are a teacher. Getting a primary job in Sydney is not easy and whilst you may pick up the odd CRT day or two you can't exist on that. People who want to work in Sydney in the primary sector especially usually have to do several years in a regional/remote school to pick up points which will then give them an advantage when they are seeking to move into a school in a place where people actually want to live. Get your barista qualifications, your Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate and make ends meet that way.
VERYSTORMY
Afraid I agree with Quoll. The chances of getting a job as a primary teacher in Sydney is VERY low. Primary teachers are massively over proscribed with even most Australian teachers having to look at posts in small bush towns. Go, enjoy your holiday and pick up what ever work you can.
