the gardener
I am a nurse in Sydney and have been turned down by 3 hospitals for 457 sponsorship despite the Nums stating I was an excellent candidate. I have been here for 4 years on a 457. It seems like the District's policy has changed ,I may have to go back to UK. Anyone had similar experience? Roberta2
Tried Queensland? I know only what I read in the papers - which is that the Newman government made some pretty savage cuts to nursing numbers which are being restored by the Palaszczuk government. Danielle9
The hospital I worked at in Sydney had more UK nurses than Australian they were all on 457. It was a private hospital though maybe try that route if they were government hospitals that turned you down. Or try somewhere out of the main cities and go for the 187 visa Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
VERYSTORMY
Are you aware though that it may be impossible to gain pr in the future and that you have to return to the UK?
Bungo
Are you aware though that it may be impossible to gain pr in the future and that you have to return to the UK? I think "may be impossible" is putting it mildly. It will almost certainly be impossible.
Nemesis
I think "may be impossible" is putting it mildly. It will almost certainly be impossible. TBH to get a 457 as a nurse over 50 the OP will need to have a very sought after particular skill - not just general nursing but a specific area. And I agree, very unlikely to ever get PR on a skills basis now.
