  1. Hi I am currently about 18 months into my 2 year period I am required to work for my sponsoring employer on a 187 visa and was wondering about the possibility of leaving the position earlier than this time due to unforeseen circumstances. The 2 year period will be up on 12 Jan 2019. I have recently had my first child and as a result am on maternity leave. I am aware that my maternity leave period does count towards the 2 year period and I will not be due back to work until after this period has been completed. We are currently living off the one income of my partner (as well as my government maternity pay until October this year), which is sporadic at the moment as work is extremely quiet in the area. Basically, I am interested to know if anybody else has been in a similar situation, and if so, would we have a leg to stand on if we moved away from the area so that my partner can find alternative work. If investigated, could we argue that we did not have financial security and as a result had to go elsewhere? Thanks in advance :)
  2. Interesting to know! I'm currently on a 187 visa and after my 2 years with my employer I was looking at going to uni to study to be a paramedic here. WA are recruiting qualified ambos now
  3. Blackpool, UK. Spent first WHV travelling the east coast and then spent some time living and working in Torquay, VIC and also did farm work in VIC. Back to Blackpool for 6 months, spent another couple of months backpacking around various countries then second WHV spent 7 months in Sydney before moving to Geraldton, WA been here a year now and just had my 187 PR visa granted last month so will be here for the next 2 years before the adventure continues

  5. I think there is a high percentage of unemployment. A lot of jobs are advertised on Facebook have a look for 'everything geraldton' might be some useful info and job tips on there. Post your experience and qualifications and hopefully the right person will see it.
  6. Hi I was requested medicals on the 14th December and then my visa was granted today (12th jan) [emoji16] shouldn't be too much longer for you.
  7. So happy to announce that at 7am this morning (wa time) my partner and I became residents!! Absolutely over the moon! Thank you everyone for the support of this forum. Hang in there guys it's a painful wait but it's worth it when the email comes through! 8. I applied in April. Nom approved mid December and requested to go for medicals for the visa. On my immi account it says the medicals were cleared on the 23rd December now impatiently waiting for the email that hopefully says I'm a resident! Fingers crossed there's lots of grants this week! Nom 27/4 Visa 16/5 Nom documents requested 11/11 Submitted 8/12 Nom approval 14/12 Visa medicals requested 14/12 Medicals cleared 23/12 Pharmacy technician
  9. Thanks I've just checked on my immi account and my medical says no action required where as my partners still says processing which I'm expecting will take a couple of weeks as he has type 1 diabetes. Fingers crossed immi are satisfied with everything else in my application as all they requested was the medicals. Praying for a grant before Australia Day!
  10. Myself and my partner were requested to go for our medicals on the 14/12 so we completed them yesterday. Does anybody know how long roughly immi take to look at the medical results? Also on my immi account it tells me to click on the 'information provided' once I've provided the necessary information. So shall I press that now since we've been for our medicals even though we haven't attached anymore documents into my application? Sorry if that doesn't make any sense! Getting so impatient now and with Christmas around the corner I have a feeling immi are going to slow down even more.
  11. Thank you all for your replies I'll see if he can get any tests he has had here printed out and signed by his GP before going for the medical. Fingers crossed this goes smoothly as it's been such a stressful few months. Nomination was approved today and only document they requested for the visa was the medicals so just this one last hurdle to get over!
  12. We are already in Australia as applied for our 187 visa onshore so he is registered with a GP here. His first hba1c readying was 8 and that was back in February his most recent one is 8.9 so hopefully that will still be ok. We will look through diabetes Australia thanks advice
  13. Has anyone got any experience with going for a medical that has type 1 diabetes. My partner is a type 1 diabetic and we need to book our medicals. We want to make it as straightforward as possible so can anyone advise if there are any additional documents he will need to take to the medical with him? He's only just recently had a hba1c blood test which came back 8.9 for him this is good as his GP in the U.K. Told him to aim to keep it under 10 however we've been told by a pharmacist over here that 8.9 is high and he should be aiming between 6-7.
  14. Thank you!! If you are free this weekend we should catch up. I know I can't believe it!! I'm so shocked that it's only medicals they asked for. Nick has type 1 diabetes so hopefully that doesn't cause too much of a problem
  15. One step closer nomination has just been approved!! I'm soo happy as we've been told by immigration over the phone and 2 MA's to withdraw and resubmit because my boss sold 40% of the business since we applied creating a new ABN but as of this morning it's approved! As for my visa they've just requested medicals. Nomination 27/4 Visa 16/5 Occupation pharmacy technician Team 4 Vic
  16. Vic team 4. What about you? I think it will get refused though because the business changed ABN since we applied so immi asked my employer to clarify so we've submitted the reason along with supporting documents from their accountant etc so basically waiting to hear weather we need to resubmit under the new ABN or not
  17. Thanks for the heads up! Looks like it will after the new year now then. I think the wait is harder now I've actually had some contact from a case officer I was a lot more patient before they got in touch
  18. Is there an average wait time once documents are submitted? Info requested on 11/11 submitted on 29/11 the 8/12 was the 28th day since they requested so I know it's not even been a week yet but so impatient now and keep checking my immi account to check! It was VIC team 4 that had my case Blackpool, UK to Geraldton, WA RSMS Pharmacy tech Nom 27/4/16 visa 23/5/16
  19. Thank you what an early Christmas present you have got! Enjoy the celebrations and the rest of your life in Australia! Blackpool, UK to Geraldton, WA RSMS Pharmacy tech Nom 27/4/16 visa 23/5/16
  20. Congratulations! What did you end up submitting again for your nomination documents with regards to the change of circumstances? My employer has submitted everything now. Letter explaining, new BAS, a copy of some of my payslips and a copy of another employees payslips and even a letter from the local MP stating that the business is successful, locally owned and well known around town etc. Congrats again!
  21. Thank you for clearing that up! It was actually my migration agent that told me if I withdraw my nomination and visa I'll go to a bridging visa C without work rights I did a quick scan online and obviously misread it and believed the MA. Everybody makes mistakes I suppose but myself and my employer have been worried about this all week how frustrating! Never mind it could be worse I suppose! Now my MA also told me that it's not possible to link visa applications to new nomination applications, let's hope she was also wrong about that and I'll save paying out another $5,400!
  22. It's looking very likely that I'll have to withdraw my 187 nomination and visa and resubmit which I believe will put my partner and I on to a BVC as we are already on a BVA since our WHV expired. I've seen online that BVC doesn't come with full work rights without providing financial hardship but what is actually classed as financial hardship? Since we'll be paying another visa fee and with the 187 currently taking around 6-8 months to process we can't afford to pay rent and buy food, bills etc without working but worried they'll look at our bank balance and refuse it. Will a statement from our employers stating they need us to work help with getting the work rights? Does anybody have any experience/tips in this area that they can share? TIA
  23. My boss submitted a change of circumstances notice as that's what we were advised to do. If we hadn't told them and they asked for further documents like a new BAS or more of my wage slips etc they would of found out anyway and then would be questioning why we didn't tell them about it Blackpool, UK to Geraldton, WA RSMS Pharmacy tech Nom 27/4/16 visa 23/5/16
  24. Immi hasn't refused the nomination just yet, they have asked us about the new partnership and ABN number but I'm not sure for definite what they have actually asked for. My MA has all that info though and just sent me an email now saying that she's done research but can't find any positive cases like mine and it's likely to be refused.
