Hi, I have paid tax already on the super fund inputs, month by month for 8 years or so.It seems to be an exit tax on ex pats leaving.Yet another Oz creepy tax The Uk just allowed Oz 3 year workers to get a uk pension for life for a small contribution, not a reciprocal arrangement at all. Not to mention the Backpacker rip off, good luck for those kids.I am 60 and see the harsh tax system for what it is. Remember 40,000 Australians in London alone at any one time , immigration control mr Morrison?

Hi, I’m on a 457 due to end in 18 months,after 8 years, just found out when I leave my super fund will be reduced by $32k. as I am leaving the country, this seems very excessive, anybody have experience of this $ grab?

Beware nurses over uk nurses over 50 yrs old,you are not welcome. Aphra are a terrible agency to deal with, uk nurses have reported them as useless or plainly obstructive to uk citizens.

Not absolutely sure about the Partners visa topic,but you will not get PR if over 50 on a 457 visa.

Is the boss going to jail? Perhaps Poms is Oz may want to consider the cozy arrangement for its own sake?

You really shouldnt bother with trying to get employment in Oz,there have been so many recent tv news stories scaring people off high street shonky salons that offer cosmetic surgery. A few owners have been taken to court because they are not qualified,and their customers have sued. If you are a registered NHS UK nurse,please ignore any of the above,I expect you would not have to work in these type of places.!

Hi,My advice would be to check your status for being able to apply for ANY nursing job in NSW.In the last 12 months there seems to have been a change in policy by NSW Health about employing nurses who do not have PR or existing 457 visas.Please be careful,it could be very expensive or disappointing.Please read the small print at the bottom of the job ads, as this is where the phrase "must have permission to work in Australia" appears.

True, but you cannot get PR if you are over 50.

In nsw they are already restricting nursing jobs to Australian citizens.I have looked at 100 jobs over the last 2 months.They will not offer 457 sponsorship.

I am a nurse in Sydney and have been turned down by 3 hospitals for 457 sponsorship despite the Nums stating I was an excellent candidate. I have been here for 4 years on a 457. It seems like the District's policy has changed ,I may have to go back to UK. Anyone had similar experience?

Thanks for the info. Moneycorp cannot send money from Oz to UK at the moment,although they are still advertising that they can.

Can anybody suggest a money transfer service(other than Moneycorp)that is efficient and gives discount to Poms in Oz members?

I have enough money,dont own a house here.Own a house in UK tho. Looking at bridging visas now,so complicated,so many types and pitfalls.

Hi all,my 457 visa is ending after 4 years,and it looks like I will not have a job by Sept.Local has the job offer.The question is ,can I get a visitor visa for a year? I would like to have at least 6 months hols and then start search for employer to sponsor me for another 457.(Registered Nurse)btw. Any advice??

Here for last 2 years on 457 visa(Nursing),want to apply for 186. Have looked all over Gov website ,but cannot find a clear explanation of what are the exemptions for applicants aged 56. Any help ,please.

Hi,I am very keen to find out if there is an age limit for someone on a 457 visa who wants to apply for PR. I am 56 !

I now have the answer from the RTA.If you do not have NSW licence you cannot use the online service.They want to photocopy your passport whenever you do a car transfer,you have to go in to an RTA office in person. When I mentioned that this probably stops about 1million people using the online facility,he said he was aware of this,but rules is rules. Huh,lucky I dont live on a sheep station 300kms from an RTA.

Thanks for your reply,I am on a temp 4 year 457 visa,and therefore I am allowed to drive on Uk licence for the period of my visa(I am not a permanent resident). I wanted to avoid getting an OZ licence,as I would have to renew it every year.$65 p.a. I think. I have 2 other vehicles registered already,but I had to go down to the RTA office in person to do this.(Reminds me of DHSS circa 1985)! I have a NSW RTA Customer number of course(from my 2 rego documants),but this does not fit the box when asked for a NSW Drivers Licence number.

I have just bought a car and wanted to transfer ownership online.I tried to create and online account with NSW RTA do do this,but failed at the first step as I cannot fill in a NSW driving licence number. I am here for 4 years on a 457 visa,and am using my UK licence. Wondering if anybody has found a way round this block?
