Are you willing/able to retrain or do you need something where you can be earning from day 1? Even if you are not looking for more money what kind of salary would you need? Do you have any skills from hobbies/interests that could be capitalised on? What about training/lecturing in Welding at a TAFE on courses like this - http://www.central.wa.edu.au/FastSearch/Pages/Results.aspx?k=welding There is a huge amount of opportunity in IT if you want something entirely different and a degree isn't critical, you can do short courses/vendor certification alongside your current job.
