Got to admit i see a lot of fat coppers about, especially the ones over say 35?

Don't they have to keep fit once they are in the door? You would think with the defence force and police they would still have to pass a fitness test every so often

Not as far as I'm aware.

When I joined the specials back in 2007 you had to pass a fitness test, then it was all up to the individual to keep it up, no incentive to carry on. Might have changed in the last few years (there was def talk about bring it in) but wether it happened I don't know.

Hubby is in the amb service, same there. Pass once and you're in, the only time they 'might' redo fitness is if you've been off with, oh I don't know a bad back or something, and they want to make sure the person can still lift heavy loads.

I personally think in those sorts of jobs fitness should be checked every 1-2 years or so.
