Manchester is also now the unofficial 2nd city......and the sporting capital .

With Utd and City and the commonwealth games

I say that as a Brummie ....as I drive around this country , Birmingham has been largely forgotten , in terms of major investment .

Its now London for the south and Manchester for the North

Liverpool is still the most successful football city,until/if they surpass us,the rest i would agree with

Can i add another to the list? We are renowned for being one of the first city's to have armed street gangs in the UK, and as expected they were impeccably turned out...

Love it! I actually live in the countryside - but Manchester is my nearest city and can often be found in Matt and Phreds!! Something I only learned recently - I love the fact that America gave the people of Manchester, a statue of President Lincoln to say thank you in our part in helping the abolition of slavery (by boycotting the cotton picked by slaves in our millls and by doing this plunged some families into poverty as they went without wages etc) which had a significant part (so I believe) in ending it!! Thus, the statue of Lincoln is housed in Lincoln Square. Lovely.

edit - apologies if this was in the article - couldn't open it properly!

I haven't been to Manchester for years, but used to go to some pretty dodgy parties there when I was at school. I sometimes wonder how I got to adulthood!

Judgemental and guilty of pigeon holing people!moi?!:twitcy:
