tonyman
Hi just wondering what did everyone do when moved to Australia with all their electical products, did you just buy lots of adapters or change plugs on everything? Is it as easy as just changing the plug? Thanks we changed many plugs but still have a good few items with English plugs on ......almost EVERY day we hear 'has anyone got the English plug" (adaptor ) we had lots at one point but they went missing , usually on the triangly thing , I think they call it an iron ....but as electrical items still get sent over(from UK) for the girls (straighteners ect) then the adapter gets harder to find ........ nic1171
I took just 2 adapters, bad move forever swapping round so take one adaptor per electrical product, or some uk extension cords so a few things can be plugged in at once.
wakeboard1980
We have just changed the plugs on a few power boards, done that going o Aus and coming back to the UK. We have 2-3 individual adaptors. Haven't changed a individual plugs.
Incata
We have changed plugs on things as we find them. We still have adapters which we use regularly, but when we use something more than once, we buy some more plugs in and change them over. Plugs are very cheap in Big W. flybyknight
changed plugs on toasters etc, but most still on uk power boards that way you only need to change one plug. go to a supermarket and buy loads of em! they're only a couple of quid. buy plugs for em when you get here. bring dysons, lots of dysons lol they're pretty expensive. other stuff is much the same. bring washing machine/tumble dryer if it is a good make that's repairable, miele bosch are good. hotpoint etc isn't worth bringing. Chardy
I wouldn't bother with a tumble dryer, been here 14 months and never used it !

Chardy
True, the Perth climate is quite dry whereas Queensland is more humid !
NicF
I wouldn't bother with a tumble dryer, been here 14 months and never used it ! We've used ours occasionally, but mostly for emergency drying in winter of school uniform that has only just been washed the previous evening. OP we have done a mixture of changing plugs and using UK power boards with the plugs changed. There are some things where the plugs can't be changed, others where we haven't got round to it or have decided to make do with the UK power boards. The problem we are having at the moment is finding places to plug in Aussie plugs as the only free sockets in some places are on the UK power boards. New plugs are easy enough to come by and wiring them is much like wiring the UK ones. Except in some states you are supposed to get a qualified electrician to do it for you.
