sickasachip
Hi guys any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have read many threads and cannot find an answer to my query and when my husband called a company was informed we could pay £100+vat for advice by card :arghh: Is there any kind of visa I can apply for based on Accounts Assistant roles please? I have worked for 4 years in the uk as an Accounts Assistant but in a manager capacity and also doing credit control. I have a basic AAT qualification and would like to move to Perth doing the similar role but studying around working to educate myself to Australian Standards. The option of coming on a student visa is a no go area as I have 4 children and a husband and do not have the amount required up front for the cost of study, with limited work allowance in hours and also the funds they require to support the family for the whole 3 years. I have 65 points on the points system so I am hoping I will be eligible to apply for something that is a permanent option? Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance
SteveandKirsty
Your best bet is to speak to an immigration agent - despite what your husband was quoted many DO offer free advice in the first instance. Or attend a Down Under Live event perhaps this certainly helped us get pointed in the right direction, at least as regard what visa we could get. I checked for events before posting on here because I thought this would be beneficial but no events posted for foreseeable future. I am even thinking an agent may be best in our circumstances now as it is a tad overwhelming :chatterbox: I am pleased you got sorted
sickasachip
Oh ive just noticed Down Under Live is different to the events I was looking at! Will be worth trying but if anyone else can help in the mean time or knows of a suitable agent I would appreciate it thank you
Adam Grey
In depth consultations/advice is a different matter, but lots of agencies (including the company i work for) offer free initial assessments. Going just from your first post I can tell you that there's unlikely to be many options right now. The occupation does not appear on the SOL or CSOL. If you're looking at a future application the CPAA website will give you the guidelines for what would be required to pass their assessment as an accountant: http://www.cpaaustralia.com.au/become-a-cpa/migration-assessment/requirements-and-criteria Would your husband perhaps be more suitable as a primary applicant? Thanks for that. That wasnt something they were prepared to discuss without upfront payment so maybe I need to find another agent. I actually want to do the training in Australia so I have a better knowledge rather than learning on the job once qualifying over here. Do things chance any if you have secured an offer of employment as I am in talks with a few very promising roles? My husband sadly is a qualified dog groomer so not in demand and he is happy to do either that or courier work depending on what work he can find but he has less education etc than me and does not meet 60 points Thanks
Tickled Pink
Just out of interest, how have your 65 points been calculated?
sickasachip
Through visa bureau. 30 age, 10 general education, 5 occupation and 20 language (hoping to increase to 30 if I get high enough marks on the test) Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Tickled Pink
Umm well I think off the top of my head that 20 is the maximum score and therefore points available for language.
Rupert
I do not believe that you have any prospect of skilled migration as an AAT accounts assistant. How about your husband? What does he do? I don't understand your points calculation either, what do you mean "general education" I am not aware if such a thing and also you have mentioned 5 points for "occupation" but points are not awarded for occupation. A moot point, but if you want to investigate your OH then you should double check your thinking on points. sickasachip
Thanks for the response rupert. He is a dog groomer so neither are skilled. Someone suggested if on the rare chance one of us were offered a job and nominated then we could apply under off the list occupations? But im struggling to find anything Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

If neither job is on the CSOL then there is no chance of getting a visa eve if you did secure a job offer.
sickasachip
Groomer isn't on either thats why I thought id check before we make rash decisions. The points were calculated by visa bureau but I said to her I thought the points had to be for a relevant course whereas they were for a course in healthcare!so im dubious Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Tickled Pink
I'd Definately look into your points allocation more closely. I'm no migration agent, but I feel you are being mislead somewhat.

Raul Senise
Through visa bureau. 30 age, 10 general education, 5 occupation and 20 language (hoping to increase to 30 if I get high enough marks on the test) Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk Not sure how the above was worked out but it seems to bear no correlation to the current requirements. First and foremost you need to be able to obtain a skills assessment in an occupation on the relevant list. You do not receive any point for Occupation and 20 for English is the highest score. sickasachip
Thanks aba. I had as much confirmed today. Will just need to wait a few years as I start a human resource management degree in september and will apply once I have enough skills and experience. Fingers crossed kt will still be on the list in a few years. Thinking positive. ....more time to save Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
wrussell
Is there any kind of visa I can apply for based on Accounts Assistant roles please? Probably not. If you want migration advice, consult a registered migration agent.
