ACT closing some state sponsored occupations

I understand that a new 2013-14 ACT Occupation List will be published in August.

The following occupations will be closed from 1 July 2013. The closure of these occupations is an interim measure. The demand for each occupation will be reassessed when the 2013-14 Occupation List is finalised.

The closure of these occupations will not affect applications lodged before 1 July 2013.

Hi Tee,

Even though I don't find similar information on any official ACT website, still I want to have a contingency plan that is I have filled for (marketing specialist) and have sent my verification approval request this last Monday, if I receive it positive and I apply for SS before 30th June, I wouldn't be impacted by this change?

And my case will be processed in July?

Look forward for your revert.

Thanks

Bhanu, same case for my wife as she also applied for verification approval but haven't heard back...so hopefully we will get to file ACT SS before June 30th ... Which means, invitation or no invitation, those who applied before June 30th, won't be affected ..... Good luck...

Thank you for the information Tee, It gave me a huge relief to know that the closure of these occupations is an interim measure & the demand for each occupation will be reassessed when the 2013-14 Occupation List is finalized.

Just keeping my fingers crossed that the new list will include " Marketing Specialist " . I am just a step away from OZ land :ssign5:

[h=2]http://www.canberrayourfuture.com.au/news/article/important-diac-announcement/[/h][h=1]Important DIAC Announcement[/h]Published 5th August 2013

On 5 August 2013 the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) announced that state and territory governments (including the ACT) are not able to nominate any intending migrants for a points tested visa from the following occupations:

  • Chemical and Materials Engineers;
  • ICT Business and Systems Analysts;
  • Electronics Engineers;
  • Telecommunications Engineering Professionals;
  • Other Engineering Professional; and
  • Software and Applications Programmers.

DIAC has been receiving a high level of demand for these occupations. To address this, invitations for these occupations will now be issued by DIAC twice per month (pro rata) over the 2013-14 program year. These invitations will be only issued to applicants for the Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) visa which is not state or territory nominated.

[h=2]How this affects the ACT’s Program:[/h]From 5 August 2013 the ACT is not able to confirm nomination of Skilled-Nominated (Subclass 190) visa for the above six occupations on SkillSelect.

As a result the ACT is not accepting applications for nomination of these six occupations until further notice.

Hey, can anyone tell me where i can get the state nominated occupation list for all the states in AUS (2013-2014)???

It would be a great help...!!!

Hi,

Each state has its own list, you need to check every one of them.

cheers

Plus remember you need to keep an eye on them as they change over time as and when the states revise them.
