Any guesses if Mechanical Engineer will go Open (without any conditions) in ACT in the new list that comes out in August? ......

I got positive assessment from EA for Mechanical Engineer. I must go to ACT for personal reasons. The ME occupation is Open but has special condition, "Must be currently employed in Canberra"... What if I apply for ACT SS now & EOI under 190... And worst case scenario if the SS gets rejected.. Can I submit a new EOI under 189 at a later date ( which will require me to re do the IELTS and score 7 bands each as I have 6.5 in writing from previous attempt and so I can't reach 60 points w/o claiming IELTS points)... Do I have anything to loose except $300, non refundable fee for ACT SS? Please help..... Thanks in advance...

My partner (not married to her yet) can only go to ACT based on her Marketing Specialist occupation so I have to limit myself to that destination. I am not sure if ACT will open up that occupation (Mechanical Engineer) category in August in new SOL list or keep it same. My insane agent says that ACT plans to remove it completely.... If not ACT SS, then I will have to re-appear for IELTS and get 7bands in each module and go with 189 route which is more time consuming... I don't know what to do... I guess the best is to wait till August... OR find a job and get an offer letter in Canberra and apply for ACT SS based on that offer letter....

I have BE and MS in Mechanical Engineering... Just received positive assessment this morning with 10 years of experience as Occupation: Mechanical Engineer.

Matiko, Unfortunately since 1 July (today) the Marketing Specialist in ACT has turned to CLOSED instead of Limited. Lots of individuals such as my wife, got their pre-approval for limited category last week before the doors were closed. You shall wait now till the new CSOL list gets updated in August. If you still wish to try, ofcourse you should prepare a list of 6 to 10 jobs that matches your skill set and preferably your industry as well and send a request for verification as there is no added cost to it. If you get rejection, you can keep trying to revise and request. Good Luck....

I just realised the the receipt date is 25-Feb so I sent them a follow up email...lets see what they have to say....

Thanks but I guess I will have to wait as my wife's occupation is in limited category and need the verification/pre-approval before I file for ACT SS...

Oh I see.... Well let's hope for the best.... as my ack date is 28-Feb..I hope I hear from them soon.

We received Vetassess assessment (+ve) last month for my better half and since then we have been trying to file for EOI and ACT SS. As her occupation (Marketing Specialist) is in limited category, we had to send the verification approval request via email to Migration Services prior to submitting ACT SS. We have been waiting for more than a week now but have not heard back from Migration Services for verification/pre-approval; hence can not submit ACT SS. Can someone share their experience what to do now or share if they received any approval recently? Thanks in advance

If I understand correctly, what EA requires is a document which is either an employment verification letter, or an appointment letter or a reference letter on a company letter head or a statutory declaration which contains all the details about the time period that you worked there, the positions you held during the work period, the job duties ( at least 5-10 duties) that you performed and any recognition or achievements that you have obtained during your service. Such detailed documents gives them good idea about the type or work that you did.... What is your application acknowledgement date in March 2013. Mine is 28-Feb-13 and I haven't heard anything from EA.

2 days is super..... BTW I have a stupid question....do I have to have EOI approval to submit ACT SS or I can apply in parallel?

Bhanu, same case for my wife as she also applied for verification approval but haven't heard back...so hopefully we will get to file ACT SS before June 30th ... Which means, invitation or no invitation, those who applied before June 30th, won't be affected ..... Good luck...
