We bought a brand new AEG washing machine 2 weeks before our belongings got shipped to Australia and after 8 months of use over here it has now died and AEG Australia are not interested in helping us out!!! Basically the drum doesnt go round anymore and we think we need a new belt ( and its proving difficult for us to get one from ebay or infact anywhere) !!!!! has anyone had a similar problem ????

black list for AEG

thats pretty dire customer service!

if you can find out the belt dimensions, or even remove it, you may be able to source a replacement in a australian white goods repair shop. its likely to be common to other machines. it probably wont be an AEG original, but the warranty's not worth the paper its written on anyways.

otherwise have the belt shipped, its an easy thing to repair.

if you unplug and pop the back off its pretty obvious where the belt goes.

as always if you are even slightly unsure get a qualified engineer to fit it.

Have you removed covers and visually inspected the belt to make sure it is intact etc, there may be a problem with the drive motor or control pcb,and this could also be the reason why drum isn't spinning, just be sure before you start spending $$ on parts that aren't required.

Never a good idea to bring o'seas stuff to any country, as most things are different in some minute detail, and parts won't be available. AEG are right to avoid it like the plague

Interestingly, Bosch (Australia) were prepared to sort our UK-bought Bosch washing machine. It's worth checking beforehand if you are making a big purchase.

Nonetheless, it can still be difficult for them to get the right parts.

I have heard of this problem alot over the years especially in relation to elecrtical goods. Its not often a warranty is valid here if the appliance was bought out of the country. I would imagine you can source the parts you need on line and find someone independant here to fit them.
