  1. Could you order the part from the uk to be delivered to someone you trust who then sends it on to you? its a long way round but much cheaper thzn replacing the machine http://shop.aeg.co.uk/search?prpp=20&ppn=1&psfo=A&filter=category%3ALaundry%3AWashing%20Machines&filter=ATTRIBUTE_PartType%3ABelts
  2. Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to suss out whether there was the option for me to get the visa rather than Hubby having to do it but got frustrated at the lack of info from vetasses. I dont suppose its in their interest to give away too much info pre-assessment! Plan A still stands
  3. I think if you have a straightforward case then just go for it alone. If you dont need state sponsorship then go for the 189 visa. Agents can be a godsend if it's not straightforward
  4. Although it looks like we'll be fine getting a visa through Hubbys skills I want a plan B. I have seen that SA have complementary health profesionals nec on their list. As a hypnotherapist I come under that category so it seemed we may indeed have a plan B. However the skills criteria list a degree and employed work experience. I am self employed as are nearly all hypnotherapists in the UK plus there is no Degree in Hypnotherapy here. I am as qualified as i can be in the UK. I have e-mailed vetasses to air my concern and to see if its worth applying or not and I had a completely irrelevant auto-e-mail sent in return so I emailed back and asked them again and this time I got another generic e-mail which didnt answer my question! So, what am I to do? if it is on the csol and on the state sponsorship list for SA there must be a way surely- or do i need to look for plan C as backup- help please-my brain is fried
  5. I am on the CSOL so can't claim for partner points as you have to be on the same list. It may be worth looking at though if he thinks he could pass under systems admin - thanks Rupert
  6. Hi, I see people often for insomnia as I am a hypnotherapist. I always recommend to my clients that they keep a sleep book. write down all of the thoughts in your mind before you go to bed, you can shout, yell, insult, let off steam as much as you need to on paper and no-one need ever see it! Also when you have trouble sleeping, get back up, don't stay in bed, pracrice some relaxation techniques before heading back to bed. The more you focus on trying to get to sleep the more you will do the opposite- its like telling someone not to think of a pink elephant next to them, you cant help but to think of a pink elephant! Hypnosis is excellent for helping you to overcome insomnia so look for a good one in your area, talk it through with a couple and go with the one you feel most comfortable with. You can get back on track, learn to sleep well again and in very little time.
  7. Yes you did , thank you for trying to help but unfortunately it didn't work out that way for us.
  8. I am in Glos too, went for a pub meal on Saturday night, one course with sides and 3 drinks in total- £40! Shocking ;-)
  9. Hi Mark that would be brilliant- Thank you so much
  10. Soory should also mentio he is applying under computer and network systems engineer on the SOL1 although some of his experience crosses over with systems admin CSOL2
  11. Ok here goes: Age ............15 points English .......20 ( I am confident he will score highly- he's a smart cookie with excellent language skills) Skilled employment outside Australia ....15 Qualifications ( we estimated this based on a positive outcome from the RPL) 10 Now as we weren't sure about the qualifications bit we factored in 10 points if neccesary for a 489 sponsored visa. I'll be damned if I am going to give up. There will be a way, just got to find it!
  12. Well instead of just going for it I decided to run our case by a migration agent who is apparantly an expert in dealing with the ACS. Hubby has been working in IT for around 20 years but no up to date qualification so we knew it wouldnt be straightforward. We received an email this morning " I regret to inform you you do not seemnto be eligible for a skilled visa as you wont be able to get sufficient points even in the best scenario. If you wish to find out why you may not be eligiblae I am happy to facilitate a skype or ohone consultation for a nominal fee of $100" Whenever we run our details through a points checker it comes up with 60-65 points so this is a real blow. Hubby is 43 this year, 1 more year and we lose all the points for age. Gutted and don't know what to do :frown:
  13. Blimey fair play to that little girl for being so brave, this could have been a heartbreaking headline otherwise. I hope they catch him ...
  14. My daughter is 7 and i agree with the above posts. Skype or facetime is a must. My daughter has a tablet which cost £80 and its perfct for skyping. I'd say asap and dont be sad when you tell him. make it all upbeat amd say you are going to live where there are kangaroos, koalas etc and that you'll all save to get him a holiday there as soon as you can and ask him if he'd like that. The main thing is to make it sound like an adventure, not a sad event. Good luck!
  15. We are still in the UK but rented our house out and moved to a rental ourselves as we didnt want to sell in the current market. We told our mortgage company who simply charged us £250 for the priviledge of them making a note of it. They have chucked the fee onto the mortgage so no cash outlay. seeing as we have not bought another property there is no change to our mortgage at all. We are with Abbey. It has been over 2 years now too ..
  16. They did it for us when we stopped over in singapore with singapore airlines
  17. Thank you Arrumac! That would be really helpful as a guide for him to look through. I have PM'd you
  18. This may help http://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm
  19. Sorry I cant help you as we are just about to do a RPL too ( if I can get hubby over his apparent fear of project writing bless him ) but I am interested to know how it stands with points too. My understanding is that it does count, that would make sense, but maybe I am wrong.
  20. Hi Carolyn, I am a hypnotherapist and i understand how traumatised that past experience has left you, quite understandibly. I can certainly recommend going to see a good hypnotherapist in your area as we help people to overcome fears and trauma regularly. Where abouts are you based? i would be happy to send you information on finding someone reputable in your area if you'd like. You deserve to enjoy the whole experience of this move and you can :-)
  21. I would imagine you have to pay tax in Oz as you are there whilst earning, but that you would still have to pay hmrc for income on your propertyin the uk. It is something we are considering as we are pretty much in the same boat. There was a migration agent on here recently who gave someone loads of advice on a similar set up, i'll see if i can find the thread... This might help the agent was from gomatilda http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/money-finance/170126-paying-my-own-salary-expenses.html
  22. Hi Voxtro, he is MCP certified but he got that in 2003. ACS guidelines only mention post 2007. I have contacted them to clarify but havent heard back and i think they are closed till new year.
  23. Are you after a state sponsored 190? If so have a look at the info on the website for that state and it should tell you how much money they expect you to have available to support yourself in Oz.
  24. BB Thank you so much, that definately helps. You describe the ideal for us so I am chuffed to bits! We have a long road ahead of us but I have to say, the destination is looking very inspiring indeed :-) Thanks for all the responses!
