  1. I have had a few agents and from the advice I was given the rental market is so strong in Aberdeen, that even the Northwood rep said not to take the guaranteed rent option as it will be more profitable to just use the managed service. In the end we haven't gone with Northwood but instead another company who seemed better connected re:finding tenents. Was a very close call and they both charged the same % fee for management etc.
  2. We have to submit a 'consent to let' application form and no extra cost so its a no brainer for us
  3. I have just recently had my 457 visa contract through and it says they will pay my flight back to UK at the end of my visa/term of employment with the company.
  4. Hi jake max, who was your quote from? We going Aberdeen - Perth, only 1 quote so far £4660 from Crown, waiting for Pickfords quote to come back
  5. Hi, we too are off to Perth in Feb 2013 we only made the decision to go in November 2012 after much pestering of my OH by me. I too have family there already. i am on a 457 visa and am married with a 6 and 2 yr old. currently wasting time on here to delay the chaos that is packing up our house, 1st task today - taking down the Xmas decorations! all the best
  6. Thanks Alaska, thats a good idea, I will ask my new employer, I suppose its in their interest to help me get a house even though they haven't really known me long. A cover letter will be good too cheers
  7. Hi I'm looking for recommendations for companies/individuals who can offer tax advice prior to our move. I've had a look at the HMRC website and am about to look at the ATO website. I have a job on a 457 visa with an Australian company and so I will pay tax in Australia. My husband however (director of his own UK based Ltd company - IT software) will live in Australia but continue to work on UK projects and still pay himself from the UK company into a UK bank account in GBP. I would assume he stays within the UK tax regime, or would it be considered that as he is physically sitting in Australia that he has earned the money in Australia? We both already do an annual self assessment tax return and will also have rental income from our UK house to account for as UK income. Its kind of complicated and we just want to check we are doing things properly so thought we should get independent advice, so if anyone has any recommendations I would be very grateful
  8. We will be renting when we move to Perth in the next month or so. I am busy tyring to establish what we will need to have to hand to effectively compile a rental pack eg employment contract/bank statements etc. I am striggling with references though, we own our own home in the UK and haven't rented for about 10 years. What have other's done in this situation?
  9. We are shortly moving to Perth and are planning to rent out our UK (Aberdeen) home whilst we are in Australia. I have some agents coming to visit next week including a firm called Northwood who offer a 'guaranteed rent' as they effectively are your tenents and they sublet the property. Does anyone have any experience of Northwood? I have spoken to the Aberdeen agent on the phone and he was very knowledgeable of the local market etc He is coming to visit along with some others but any experience from others who rent out UK property would be great.
  10. Hi everyone, My family and I are moving from Aberdeen to Perth in the next month or so. I have a new job on a 457 visa, was told to expect a 4-6 week processing time but visa was submitted 7th Dec and approved after only 6 days. Start new job on 5th March so now have to move husband and 2 kids in the next month or so. This forum is a great source of info!
  11. That is truely awful. I am new to this site and have lots of questions but they all seem silly and insignificant compared to your situation. Be strong x
